Dear Delegates,

Thank you for your paper submissions. I hope that you are all now prepared for the trip to Istanbul.

Below are some further updates that you may find useful.

1. Logistics for the Welcome Reception

All delegates please note that the Welcome Reception will be held on a Bosphorous Cruise boat. Coaches will be waiting at the Conrad Istanbul Hotel to take you to the boat at 7.30pm sharp. Therefore please make sure that you are in the lobby 5-10 minutes before 7.30pm.

If by any chance that you miss the coach, you can ask the Hotel’s concierge desk or reception to call a taxi for you. You will then be liable to pay for the taxi fare.

2. Conference Programme and Speaker

Both the conference programme outline and speakers’ profile are available for download from the IEF conference website: www.essex.ac.uk/conferences/ief/

Hard copy of the programme, speakers and other useful information will be in your conference pack, given at the time of sign-in (in the morning of 17th and 18th September). A registration table will also be available from 1pm to 6pm in the hotel lobby for those early arrivals.

3. PhD Workshop Arrangements (only for those who have registered with [email protected] in advance)

The special PhD workshop will take place at 2.30pm on 16th September 2009 at the Sabanci University Karakoy Campus. The programme and logistics are as follows:

In order for the arrangements to be made in good time, please all previously registered students send in their PhD proposal or thesis summary to [email protected] by 7th September 2009.

You are all advised to prepare a 10-minute presentation including your research topic, objectives, research design and methodologies. No need to send presentation in advance.

4. Paper Presentation Schedule

Due to the delay in some of the paper submissions, we are unfortunately held back in the finalisation of the paper presentation schedule as planned. However the final schedule will be made available online from the mid of next week. Please visit the conference website: www.essex.ac.uk/conferences/ief/ from time to time for the updates. An email alert will also be sent in due course.

5. Final Reminders for Paper Submission

A number of authors had requested the extension of paper submission dates with good reasons. However may I just take this opportunity to remind you that your paper needs to reach [email protected] by Monday 7th September 2009?

If, for whatever reason, there is any problem with the above email address please kindly resend (or copy in) to [email protected] We’ll confirm the receipt of the paper as soon as we can.

6. Final Reminders for Payments

A great proportion of conference delegates made the payments at very last minute therefore we have worked hard to track down the payments this week and beyond. Please note unless otherwise agreed, we require your advance payment for the participation in the 9th IEF.

If any payments were made in the past few days please email us a copy of the payment evidence so that we can note on your record.

Thank you for your attention and co-operation.

Best wishes, Sujun Fieldhouse 9th IEF Conference Committee Member
