1 [5019] 1 1 Whereas, under the leadership of Head Coach Dave Odom, the 2 Gamecocks have reached the NIT semifinal round in three of his 3 five seasons; and 4 5 Whereas, the team continues to be a source of pride for the entire 6 State of South Carolina and we look forward to cheering them on 7 in future tournaments; and 8 9 Whereas, it is fitting and proper for the members of the General 10 Assembly to pause in their deliberations to honor this outstanding 11 team. Now, therefore, 12 13 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 14 concurring: 15 16 That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly 17 congratulate the Gamecocks Men’s Basketball Team of the 18 University of South Carolina on winning its second National 19 Invitational Tournament Championship and on becoming only the 20 second team in history to win back-to-back National Invitational 21 Tournament Titles. 22 23 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 24 the Honorable Herbert C. Adams, Chairman, University of South 25 Carolina Board of Trustees; Dr. Andrew A. Sorensen, University 26 of South Carolina President; Mr. Eric Hyman, University of South 27 Carolina Director of Athletics; and University of South Carolina 28 Head Basketball Coach Dave Odom. 29 ----XX---- 30
