I am a Senior Lecturer in Spanish and the Period Abroad Academic Leader in the School of Languages at Leeds Metropolitan University. I am a Romance and Hispanic Linguistics specialist, and have worked in projects linked to both the Hispanic and the Lusophone studies whilst and after completing my PhD. I am involved in the development and delivery of both Undergraduate and Part-Time Courses (ca. 500 students), which gives me an integral vision of the issues that our field faces. If I get the opportunity to represent this constituency, I will focus on increasing its visibility across the Higher Education sector by strengthening the links between UCML, the Higher Education Institutions and other relevant organisations. Furthermore, I will use my membership in Language Associations and my contacts with key Institutions, such as the Spanish Consejería de Educación para Reino Unido e Irlanda, to help assure the future and viability of our disciplines in Higher Education.
