Brooklyn Moveathon:  Creative idea to actively engage parents, teachers, and students in fundraising for a school garden:

o From their Facebook page: “This is a fundraising event that involves 459 students and teachers running, bending, jumping, twisting and sweating...all for a great cause! That's the Brooklyn Elementary moveathon! The moveathon will fill an afternoon with sponge tag, parachute, bootcamp, wii dance, yoga, snacks, twister, adventure to fitness, twister, walking path, flash mob, and skip it/jump rope!

...We want to instill the love of moving and staying healthy! This is a springboard that connects movement, nutrition, healthy living through our Brooklyn Bobcat gardening project.

We are asking students AND staff to raise pledges from families, friends, and corporations. The collected funds will help us add pieces of outdoor exercise equipment and gardening opportunities so our students can continue to MOVE and GROW! Please use the Brooklyn Moveathon Pledge form when collecting and receiving donations.”

Our next meeting will be Thursday, April 17th at 8:00 a.m., Watertown Senior and Community Center.
