Code of Ethics

For the organization, followings are the code of ethics

Compliance with Regulations, Rules and Laws: At all time, employees must fulfillment of entire regulations, laws, and rules. Regarding any problem, the employees should contact with the legal department of an organization.

Conflicts of Interest: Employees will be employed in the interest of company in the place of their personal interest. If there is any clash between the interests of the organization, then it is the responsibility of employees to inform legal department people about their interest to avoid the any issue or problem (Hegarty & Sims, 1979). Through this, management could decide what action should be taken by that the conflict of interest could not take place in future.

Insider Trading Policy: The employees of the company should not take part into insider trading after knowing the laws of organizations to get the profits, which would be provided to customers.

Harassment and Discrimination: Employees will get equal opportunity at work place and they should avoid any kind of harassment

Health and Safety: Employees will get safe, healthy and clean work environment and it is the responsibility of employees to maintain the rules of organization of the workplace (Hegarty

& Sims, 1979). Supervisors should also inform the management if employees face an issue at the workplace.

Bribery: Employees must avoid bribe to anyone for securing long-term job in the organization because the organization gives value to performance and outputs of employees in the place of any relationship. CODE OF ETHICS 3

The code of ethics is totally based on the my personal ethical beliefs because I think the employees and organization both should work to maintain law & order inside the organization to give message in societies that organization is committed to follow the concerns of society in daily business life (Offermann, 2004).

The code of ethics of my organization is quite similar as like Enron and Apple (Apple

Inc., 2014). But, it could be stated that as like Apple, the code of ethics of my organization is so strongly implement the rules and laws over each workers to reduce the big scandal as like Enron

(Enron's, 2000). On the other hand, code of ethics in my organization describes the conflicts of interest in simple word as like Apple by that the incident of Enron would not take place once again because of simple no employee could take benefits of complex words or not clear code of ethics.

Rational for Designing Code of Ethics Plan

The code of ethics imposes ethical pressure on employees to follow the ethics at every place inside and outside of the organization (Hegarty & Sims, 1979). It is my believe that the organization and its employees should keep a distance from those types of business practices that could make negative impacts of someone or could hurt someone in the form of financial loss or mental pressure. Therefore, the code which is designed by me would also guide the employees about what actions are required to ensure the ethical values and what action should be avoided to retain the ethics at the workplace.

The designed code of ethics is also described about the rules and regulations that should be followed by the every employee and nobody could ignore these rules. The reason behind the CODE OF ETHICS 4 failure of Enron and the success of Apple is a code of ethics (McDonald, 2014). The failure of

Enron was because its code of ethics did not work as like its strength (Enron, 2000). On the other hand, I also believe that if the code of ethics would work strongly, then nobody will like to do unethical act and reduce the reputation and image of the organization. As like the code of ethics of both organizations, my proposed code of ethics plan also includes the entire possible areas of the organization, which are directly and indirectly related to workers and where there is the place for unethical activity (Offermann, 2004). But, my plan related to the code of ethics includes the entire management and decision makers of the organization that were not followed by the Enron management because of the complex nature of information.

The code of ethics of plan is also included a point about the workplace harassment that is growing concerns in large size organization and creates a negative image of the organization in the target market (Offermann, 2004). It also describes the required relationship between employees at the workplace for reducing the conflicts and issues and improving the performance of employees’ teams along with the organization. As like Apple and Enron, my plan would also protect my organization from any legal prosecution and legal charges that would facilitate the organization to ensure success and profits in market.

The designed code of ethics is directly related to personal ethical beliefs in different terms. In order to become successful in the personal and professional life, it is important for an individual to comply with the rules and regulations. Personally, if an individual does not follow rules and laws in daily life, it is not possible for him/her to complete different tasks on time (Offermann,

2004). At the time, personal interest should along with the professional interest so that the level CODE OF ETHICS 5 of conflict will minimum. The designed ethical code is related to personal ethics in terms of development of personality with the management of conflict at different levels.

Compare and Contrast of Code:

This code of ethics is very similar to the code of conduct of Amazon, a world leading online retailer firm. The ethical code of conduct of Amazon includes compliance with regulations, management of conflict of interest, etc. At the same time, this code of ethics does not include controlling price fixing, periodic certification and reporting, etc., which are an important part of

Amazon’s ethical code of conduct (Amazon.com, 2014).

On the other hand, the code of ethics of Enron is different from this designed code of ethics, because it comprises a common sense rule of conduct, enclosed of memorandum and employment regulations (Enron's, 2000). CODE OF ETHICS 6
