II. GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for performing specific pharmacy tech job functions requiring a higher degree of expertise with special attention to detail, including accurate documentation, troubleshooting, training of employees, problem-solving, and system implementation and modification. This position may involve inventory management, stocking and ordering medications and supplies, patient, narcotic and purchasing documentation, patient, vendor and medical personnel interactions, automated distribution set up, system maintenance, and record keeping, IV admixture, and pharmacy order entry.
Demonstrates actions consistent with Anywhere’s “Expectations” as duties are performed on a daily basis.
III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education, Experience & Training:
1. High School graduate with one or more years of college or completion of a para-professional pharmacy training program and Certified Pharmacy Technician licensure required. 2. Two or more years of Hospital Pharmacy experience. 3. Experience with IV admixture, automated dispensing cabinets (ADC), and/or inventory management preferred.
B. Other Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of computers, pharmacy calculations, pharmacy and medical terminology and drug classifications. 2. Good interpersonal skills. 3. Must demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in at least one of the following areas: a) Narcotic documentation, inventory management and distribution, and troubleshooting b) ADC functions including but not limited to generating and reviewing reports, loading and unloading medications, and troubleshooting. c) Patient Medication Assistance Program: Performs all associated duties including acquiring patient information, completing necessary forms and obtaining patient medications, patient interaction and maintenance of files. d) IV Admixture e) Auditing medication administration records.
C. Physical Demands:
1) This position requires extensive moving about campus and periods of sedentary work of up to 16 hours per day. 2) Ability to move about easily and to maneuver pharmacy medication carts weighing up to 100 lbs. 3) Able to climb and descend stairs; stand for up to 16 hours, walk briskly; carry 20-30 lbs., light lifting 4) Must possess fine motor skills necessary to compound pharmaceuticals and operate technical equipment.

1. Essential Job Duty: IV Compounding Weight: 35% Standards: Accurately prepares and labels sterile products in a safe and cost effective manner, utilizing aseptic technique Accurately prepares and labels sterile hazardous products in a safe and cost effective manner, utilizing aseptic technique 2. Essential Job Duty: Inventory Management Weight: 20% Standards: Establishes and maintains PAR levels for medications stored in IV room and Chemo Room ensuring adequate quantities for daily operations Prepares list daily of medications to be ordered to meet the needs of patients Maintains adequate stock of supplies necessary for compounding and cleaning of the Sterile Compounding Area 3. Essential Job Duty: Oversee USP Chapter <797> Compliance and Documentation Weight: 15% Standards: Performs and documents daily, weekly, monthly and annual requirements of sterile processing rooms Ensures appropriate documentation is performed when absent upon return Oversees validation checking of pharmacy employees Assesses skills and documents education requirements of pharmacy employees Reports compliance variances to Pharmacy Management 4. Essential Job Duty: Delivery of Medications Weight: 10% Standards: Responsible for the delivery of IV batch medications to patient units Responsible for reconciliation of IV medications on unit with current profiles 5. Essential Job Duty: Training New Employees Weight: 10% Standards: Responsible for training new employees in sterile product compounding Responsible for assessing skills of employees periodically and re-training as necessary 6.
