School of Education and Human Development University of southern Maine External Advisory Board Council Scholarship Committee

Meeting Minutes, November 5, 2012

In attendance: Cathy Martin, Cathie Fallona, Betsey Uhuad, Kim Warren, and Liz Standen.

Meeting was held at 217 Abramson Hall.

Discussion took place on the special Scholarship Fund -raising and Professional study event with Bea McGarvey that occurred on October 22, 2012 at Hannaford Hall. Kim distributed several documents that she has complied from survey data provided by attendees at the workshop. These results will be shared with all Advisory Board members, with the distribution of these minutes so that all can study the results, and all members can give their evaluations, impressions and suggestions, at the next full board meeting in January.

Discussion took place on completing a thank you response to donors to date, in the annual fund campaign, and special fund donors. Kim provided a list of names of donors, that the members present divided up, and will send individual notes to. Kim provided USM stationary that she beautifully prepared for this process. Further discussion on the process of thanking any donors to the Scholarship Fund that have been received from workshop attendees will be addressed at the next meeting, when it is expected that that data will be complete. Cathie Fallona will speak to Bea at a future meeting, regarding the responses to questions from attendees after the Fish Bowl section of the event. There are two follow-up sessions scheduled at USM, in conjunction with the workshop topic, which the workshop attendees have received invites for, and Cathie Fallona will report on after these events occur, at the next committee meeting.

The next meeting was set for Monday, December 3rd, 2012, at 8am, at 217 Abramson Hall.

Meeting adjourned at 10:35.

Respectfully submitted,

Catherine Martin, co-Chair
