Wrote initial master verification plan for the Dream Chaser program, supported PDR preparation, assisted in requirements development and reviewed briefings. Part of team that developed the certification approach for the Dream Chaser program and developed the certification plan and verification and validation plan for the program. Worked on several proposals for SNC including Dream Chaser and DARPA F6. Assisted in the development of a mid term briefing and final report for a classified study.

LOCKHEED MARTIN ASTRONAUTICS, Denver, CO 2002 –Nov 2011 Senior Manager Deputy Chief System Engineer (CSE) for the Orion program. Responsible for overseeing the effort to CDR for the SEIT team and the overall program. Perform CSE duties on program when CSE is not available. Proposal manager for NASA Orion program engineering change proposal. Co-Chair the Environmental Definition Working Group (EDWG). Systems representative for ERBs, NASA VICB, and PRBs. Perform special studies as needed by program management. System Architect for the Orion program responsible for ensuring the architecture is considered in all change requests. Support CSE in budget, performance evaluation and talent management aspects of the organization. Team representative accepting NOVA award in 2010 for leadership of the PDR integration team for the Orion program.

THE BOEING COMPANY, Aurora, CO 2001-2002 Senior System Engineer Responsible for the system engineering effort for the Mission Operations group on a classified program. Provide the horizontal integration across the mission operations group to ensure the products were satisfying the mission objectives. Developed the Critical Design Review (CDR) concept for the group and provided guidance to each group in developing their presentations. Developed spreadsheets that outlined the overall program baseline and the approved configuration changes that occurred. Developed an availability analysis for the program and also mapped the operational procedures into the timeline of activities.

GENERAL DYNAMICS ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS, Englewood, CO 1998-2001

Director Report directly to the Vice President of Space and Surveillance and responsible for the Space and Integration Line of Business (LOB) for the Space and Surveillance Group. Duties include the Profit and Loss responsibility, new business pursuits, career development of employees, day to day management of organization, orders, sales and profit for the LOB and management of the programs under the LOB.

Manager Responsible for the Chemical and Biological Warfare effort in the Space and Surveillance group. Responsibilities include identification and development of potential programs, proposal lead and program management of on-going programs. Proposal manager for the Joint Warning and Reporting Network (JWARN) program, the Portal Shield replacement program and the Joint Biological Point Detection System (JBPDS) for GDIS.

Supported the effort to win the Final Analysis Satellite system engineering and integration program. Supported other proposals including: Pinnacle program, TASS, and Marksman.

LOCKHEED MARTIN ASTRONAUTICS, Denver, CO 1994-1998

Senior Manager Responsible for the systems engineering organization for the P59 program, a smaller, cheaper, good enough program that utilized new ways of doing business. Specific responsibilities included: definition of requirements, system level space and ground design, interface definition, system verification, mission and launch operations. Responsible for the system’s group in task planning, budgets and personnel decisions. Chief System Engineer for the program assuring that consistency of processes and technical information passed between my program and the Astronautics Technical Operations Group. Received the Lockheed Martin Astronautics Technical Achievement Award for my efforts as the Systems Engineering Manager.

Prior to the P59 program, I was the systems and ground lead for a classified study in the Special Programs Advanced Programs Group. Responsible for the system level design of the ground system which included hardware, software and interface issues. Performed system level trade studies on architecture concepts for the system and ground segment. Provided mission analysis support to validate the architecture concepts. Supported the P81 ground systems engineering group.

HUGHES AIRCRAFT COMPANY, Aurora CO 1993-1994

System Engineer Performed mission management analysis on a classified mission. Also, worked as the systems engineer on an unclassified Norwegian telecom satellite program. Responsible for the concept of operations, interface design and created a training package for the satellite ground operators. Received a letter of appreciation for this effort.

MARTIN MARIETTA ASTRONAUTICS, Denver, CO 1990-1993

Technical Lead Planned, recruited staff, defined job duties and provided technical leadership for a seven member mission operations group. My group developed the concept of operations for the overall space and ground architecture, which resulted in the highest rating by the customer of all contractors. Received a letter of recognition for this effort. The mission operations group performed system analysis to determine the optimum design concepts including the ground command and control functions, satellite and ground communication systems, flight hardware and software, ground hardware and software, and data processing and distribution to the end user. Interacted with the design groups to ensure that their design fit into the overall system.

Wrote the system architecture definition and operational concept sections for a large scale classified program technical proposal. Responsible for writing a portion of the cost proposal that included the basis of estimates for the operations group manpower loading, travel, software, hardware and documentation. Worked in the Advanced Concepts organization performing mission analysis, architecture trade studies and concept of operations approaches for a new classifies system architecture.

THE BOEING COMPANY, Aurora, CO 1989-1990

Senior System and Mission Operations Engineer Member of the mission operations group for a classified program. Analyzed subsystem performance via command and telemetry measurements, performed operational procedure validation, analyzed end-to-end simulation results, defined command loads for uplink, performed software validation, rehearsal support, and overall system analysis. Received the Technical Operations Support award for work on the operations floor with console, planners, software and simulations support personnel to ensure successful daily operations. Senior Staff Engineer in the Advanced Concepts Group Member of a four person software development team that created an analysis and graphics package with interactive databases (approx. 50,000 lines of code). The software modeled different satellite sensor systems and evaluated sensor performance against specified mission requirements. The Graphical User Interfaces were developed by working with the end user to incorporate their requirements for a user-friendly system. Received an employee commendation award for the software development effort.

Briefed and demonstrated the software capability to various customers, supported numerous off- site customer exercises, including real-time prototyping of software to meet user needs and installed several systems at various locations per customer request. Received three employee commendation awards for the above customer support effort. Responsible for modeling sensor capabilities, defining data and sensor requirements, and developing data processing and modeling algorithms and their associated software. Performed mission and system analysis on various spacecraft design concepts to determine the compatibility with customer requirements. This effort included the analysis of satellite communication concepts, link margins, and throughput for various advanced concepts.

Mission Analyst Responsible for the generation of algorithms that modeled the sequence of events about Venus that included all maneuvers, planet mapping and Venus to Earth communications. Created software analysis tools in FORTRAN to validate the command sequence of events for all on- orbit operations.

Spacecraft Payload Software Technical Lead Defined, executed and analyzed tests to verify the on-board software as a member of the software validation and verification team for the Inertial Upper Stage (IUS) program. Analyzed spacecraft orbits using 3 and 6 degree of freedom programs. Also, created software analysis tools and developed algorithms that aided in the spacecraft performance analysis.
