A Bylaw of the Town of Calmar, in the Province of Alberta, to Authorize and Implement

TOWN OF CALMAR BYLAW #2016-08

A BYLAW OF THE TOWN OF CALMAR, IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA, TO AUTHORIZE AND IMPLEMENT THE SEVERAL RATES OF TAXATION TO BE IMPOSED FOR ALL PURPOSES FOR THE YEAR 2016.

WHEREAS pursuant to Section 353 of the Municipal Government Act, Chapter M-26, 2000, RSA, and amendments thereto (the “M.G.A.”), the Council of the Town of Calmar is required to pass a Property Tax Bylaw;

AND WHEREAS the total requirements of the Town of Calmar are shown in the estimates of Revenues and Expenditures for 2016 are as follows:

Municipal Purposes: $ 5,190,882 A.S.F.F. – Residential Requisition: 563,068 A.S.F.F. – Non-Residential Requisition: 143,423 Leduc Foundation Requisition: 4,748

TOTAL: $ 5,902,121

AND WHEREAS the total assessments in the Town of Calmar for 2016 are as follows:

For Properties Subject to Municipal Levies and the A.S.F.F. Residential Requisition Residential Land & Improvements: $ 214,742,000 Farmland: 153,000 Mobile Homes in a Mobile Home Park: 3,986,500 Vacant Residential: 16,118,000 ______

TOTAL: $ 234,999,500

For Properties Subject to Municipal Levies and the A.S.F.F. Non- Residential Requisition Commercial Land & Improvements: $ 12,022,750 Industrial Land & Improvements: 19,464,000 Linear Improvements: 3,166,320 Vacant Non Residential: 5,669,000 Railway: 16,000 ICG Gas: 139,000 ______

TOTAL: $ 40,477,070

For Properties Subject to Municipal Levies Only: Machinery & Equipment: $ 98,000

TOTAL OF ALL ASSESSMENTS: $ 275,574,570 TOWN OF CALMAR BYLAW #2016-08

AND WHEREAS Estimated Revenues from sources other than current taxes is: $ 2,653,485 Estimated Revenues from Local Improvement Levies are: 0 Estimated Revenues from Local Municipal Taxes are: 2,556,089 Estimated Revenues from the A.S.F.F. Residential Levy are: 563,082 Estimated Revenues from the A.S.F.F. Non-Residential Levy are: 143,424 Estimated Revenues from the Leduc Foundation Levy are: 4,765

TOTAL: $ 5,920,845

AND WHEREAS the rates hereinafter set out are deemed necessary to provide the amount required for the various purposes, after making due allowance for the amount of taxes which may be reasonably expected to remain unpaid.

NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Town of Calmar, in the Province of Alberta, duly assembled, does hereby enact as follows:

1. The Tax Rates for 2016 are imposed as follows:

On Residential Properties:

a) Properties with improvements:

For Municipal Purposes: 8.2375 For the Residential A.S.F.F.: 2.3961 For the Leduc Foundation: 0.0173 _____

TOTAL 2016 TAX RATE 10.6509

b) Vacant Residential Properties:

For Municipal Purposes: 14.3911 For the Residential A.S.F.F.: 2.3961 For the Leduc Foundation: 0.0173 _____

TOTAL 2016 TAX RATE 16.8045

On Non-Residential Properties:

c) Properties with Improvements and Vacant

For Municipal Purposes: 12.8428 For the Non-Residential A.S.F.F.: 3.5348 For the Leduc Foundation: 0.0173 _____

d) Machinery and Equipment:

For Municipal Purposes: 12.8428 _____

2. This Bylaw comes into effect on the date of the third reading and further that Bylaw #2015-04 in this regard is hereby rescinded.

READ a FIRST time this 25th day of April, 2016

READ a SECOND time this 25th day of April, 2016

READ a THIRD time, by unanimous consent, and FINALLY PASSED this 25th day of April, 2016
