How to make a “Mike Wazowski” Piñata By Meghan Killian (Period 6)

STEP 1- Get supplies needed for creating the piñata Supplies:  A round balloon (for the body)  Tubes/sticks (for the arms and legs)  Tin foil (for constructing the fingers, toes and ears)  A domed structure such as a bowl (for the eye)  Duct tape (for taping the parts of the figure together)  Scissors  Plaster cloth OR  Newspaper with a mixture of flour and water (1 cup of water and 2 cups of flour)  Green/black/white paint STEP 2- Construct the limbs of the piñata.  Mold the tin foil into long tube shapes for the fingers and toes  Mold four spheres for the palm of Mike Wazowski’s hand, and the bottom of his foot.  Flatten out the spheres to make the hands and feet look more realistic  Duct tape the fingers and toes to the “spheres”  Attach the hands and feet to the tubes/sticks using duct tape. You may want to cut down the sticks/tubes to make them look more proportionate to the body. (Make sure the hands and feet are secure. Also the legs are shorter than the arms.)  Duct tape the arms and legs onto the blown up balloon (make sure they are secure  Construct two pyramids shapes out of some tin foil for the horns/ears  Duct tape to the top of your balloon  Take your bowl or other domed object and duct tape onto the front of the balloon upside down. Place towards the middle of the balloon  You may also make finger nail and toe tails by adding pointed tin foil to the end of the fingers and toes. STEP 3- Cut the plaster cloth into three different sized strips- small, medium and large. Dip the cloth into a bowl of water and place all over your piñata. Make sure the entire object is covered in the cloth. Add more cloth where your piñata is weaker.

*If you are using the newspaper and flour mixture: mix one cup of water and two cups of flour together until you have a very liquefied mixture. (Add more water if the mixture is too chunky) Cut the same sized strips of newspaper and dip into the mixture. Before placing the strips onto your piñata make sure that you strain some of the excess liquid from the strips. Place all over your piñata.

Leave a hole in the top of your piñata for filling it up with candy later. Do not cover this part with the cloth.

*Make sure you have at least 3 layers on your piñata. You may use more layers if you want a stronger piñata.* *LET DRY*

STEP 4- Paint your piñata. You may use a picture of Mike Wazowski to perfect his coloring.

 His body, arms, legs and iris of his eye are green. (The eye is a darker shade of green. The rest of his body is the same lime green color.)  Mike Wazowski has black at the tips of his horns/ears and the inside of his mouth. The pupil of his eye is also black  His fingernails, toenails, teeth and the bottom and middle of his horns/ears are an off white color.  The cornea of his eye is white. * LET DRY* STEP 5- Where there is a hole, pop the balloon and pull it out. Fill up your piñata with candy through the same hole. You may add different tissue papers to keep all of your candy from falling to the bottom of you piñata. Also, punch two holes on either side of the hole and string some ribbon through it. Tie the ribbon together at the top so that your piñata can be hung up later.
