Westmount High School Physical Education & Health Secondary Two

This course concentrates on the importance of daily physical activity and making healthy lifestyle choices by exploring the following topics:

Expectations and Guidelines:

 Respect (oneself, classmates, teachers, the gym, the changing area, classroom and all equipment)  Students must wear the proper WHS crested physical education uniform  Students who forget their uniform will be deducted class marks and they will have to serve a detention  Students must participate in every gym class (a student should not attend school for the day if they are so sick that they cannot participate)  Students who cannot participate due to special circumstances will be expected to have a detailed note from a parent and/or doctor explaining the situation to their teacher  Students must wear indoor running shoes with proper support (hiking shoes, shoes without laces, dress shoes etc. are not permitted)  Students must bring an extra lock to secure their clothes in the change room (WHS is not responsible for any lost or stolen articles)  Students must not bring any valuables into the gym (leave valuables at home or in your homeroom locker)  All school bags, electronic devices and jewellery should be locked up safely in homeroom lockers  Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottle (labelled with name) which they can fill prior to class (hydration is essential to good health)  No gum, food or drinks (other than water) are permitted in the gym at any time

Competency One: “To perform movement skills in different physical activity settings” 33% Competency Two: “To interact with others in different physical activity settings” 33% Competency Three: “Adopting a healthy, active lifestyle 34%

*Students are required to bring a binder, pen and notepaper to each Health Class. *Students will be completing a personal health and fitness journal that will be evaluated each term!!!
