Job description

HR and training duties:  Act as the charity’s HR and training and development officer and, with the Bursar, ensure compliance with employment legislation.  Be the first point of contact for all HR enquiries.  Coordinate all recruitment.  Ensure that new staff are properly inducted into the organisation, that new joiner documentation is completed and that employees have the legal right to work in the UK.  Maintain comprehensive records, ensuring that all staff training and development is organised and recorded as necessary.  Coordinate annual appraisals.  Manage the HR database, ensuring that employee records are accurate and up to date, and monitor and report on staff holidays and absence.  Prepare staff contracts and amendments and ensure that electronic and paper copies are properly filed.  Liaise with the HR software provider to ensure that master documents are properly maintained and updated.  Assist with the administration of disciplinary, grievance and other employee relations issues that may arise.

Administrative duties:  Provide secretarial and administrative support to the Bursar and the Finance Director, and manage the Bursar’s diary.  Maintain statutory records in an accurate and timely way.  Assist the Bursar in his commercial role and with the promotion of Cumberland Lodge as a venue.  Convene and minute the Health & Safety Committee and ensure that risk assessments are completed and acted upon in a timely manner.  Coordinate the purchase of office supplies and consumables, and maintain thorough purchasing records.  Coordinate reprographics, print and web services, liaising with the Programme Department and Press & Communications Officer.  Work with the Finance Director to arrange all necessary insurances, to maintain records and to handle claims.  Provide administrative support to the Buildings Manager and help him maintain statutory records.  Undertake filing as required, in particular confidential and sensitive records and, in time, move paper archives over to an electronic document storage system.  Provide occasional relief and holiday cover for colleagues and for Reception.  Carry out such other tasks as may be reasonably required to facilitate the smooth operation of Cumberland Lodge.

HR Officer and Assistant to the Bursar

Salary: £27,000 p.a. with pension and other benefits

Cumberland Lodge, the educational charity and conference centre in Windsor Great Park, seeks to appoint a full-time HR Officer / Assistant to the Bursar.

The successful applicant will join a small and friendly team at an exciting time, as Cumberland Lodge implements a new strategic plan in its 70th anniversary year, to increase the impact of its work as an educational foundation tackling social divisions.

The Bursar’s team is responsible for HR, Property, Grounds, Facilities, IT and Health and Safety, as well as guest services and the commercial activities of the charity.

Person specification We are seeking an effective administrator who is highly organised, a team player, has excellent IT and interpersonal skills, and has relevant experience (and preferably a recognised qualification) in the administration of Human Resources and training in a small to medium sized business.
