COMMENTS/CHANGES:

MISC:

NOAA-15: There was relatively little change in the performance of the NOAA-15 bus & payload subsystems during the past week with the exception of the following:

There was no significant change to IMU performance. Daily monitoring continues.

NOAA-16: There was relatively little change in the performance of the NOAA-16 bus & payload subsystems during the past week with the exception of the following:

NOAA-16's Illumination Sensor Error Flag began flagging on 9 Feb 2010 (10/040) due to low patch current as a result of the current low sun angle period NOAA-16 is going through. On 18 Feb 2010 (10/049), the SADPOS thresholds will be readjusted and the battery charge level will be reset to be based off of GEODAT eclipse rather than the patch current in order to prevent charging/discharging of the batteries during this low sun angle period. NOAA-16's temperatures are continuing to decrease, see figure 2 for AMSU B temperature profile. The sun angle is expected to reach a minimum of ~2.6 deg. on 23 Feb 2010 (10/054) at ~14:00 UTC, after which it will be begin increasing again. NOAA-17: There was relatively little change in the performance of the NOAA-17 bus & payload subsystems during the past week with the exception of the following:

The NOAA-17 AVHRR Scan Motor has begun to show signs of degraded performance. The Motor Current began to increase early- January 2010 and has continued to slowly rise to increase of approximately 15% since the beginning of the year (See Figure 3). The motor shows no sign of overheating; however problems have recently been reported in the science data products. The increasing load/instability of the motor is causing it to lose synchronization with the MIRP, triggering a re-sync. The process results in gaps of a few seconds in the entire AIP data stream. This is still under investigation.

NOAA-18: There was relatively little change in the performance of the NOAA-18 bus & payload subsystems during the past week with the exception of the following:

The NOAA-18’s MIMU 1 continues to operate nominally. See Figure 5 & 6.

NOAA-19: There was relatively little change in the performance of the NOAA-19 bus subsystems during the past week with the exception of the following:

NOAA-19 AMSU-A1 Channel 8 increased levels have been noted since 22 Dec 2009 (09/356). NEdT levels remain out of specifications. Discontinuous jumps in warm and cold view counts have been noted. See Figures 7 & 8. This is still under investigation.

MetOp-A: There was relatively little change in the performance of the NOAA Instruments on MetOp-A spacecraft during the past week with the exception of the following:

No NOAA Instrument anomalies or significant trending changes to report. ALSO SEE: http://www.oso.noaa.gov/poesstatus/ EMOSS-3
