Job Title: Emergency Medicine Research Registrar
Department: Department of Emergency Medicine
Tenure: Full-time position for 12 months
Reporting to: Clinically and professionally responsible to Dr Gilligan. Administratively accountable to the Medical Staff Coordinator for administration requests i.e. roster, pay, leave requests.
Employed by: The Royal College of Surgeons and based in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, Ireland.
Overall Purpose of this position
Beaumont Hospital is an academic Teaching Hospital and a recognised training unit for Emergency Medicine trainees. The Emergency Department treats 49,000 patients per year and has an active audit and research programme with an expanding publication portfolio. There is weekly teaching in Emergency Medicine. The mission of Beaumont Hospital is to provide quality care to all patients, in a respectful, safe and compassionate environment. Key responsibilities and Deliverables
. To act under the supervision of Dr Gilligan and to support him in his duties . To engage in the LiveCity research project . To recruit patients to the study . To train paramedical crews in the use of the telemedical devices . To perform pre-clinical research in telemedicine . To gather and analyse data relating to the telemedical research in Stroke, Myocardial infarction and trauma care. . To act and behave professionally and perform one’s duties in a manner that optimises patient care and protects and enhances the reputation of the hospital Person Specification
Qualifications • Medical degree, MBBS or equivalent. • Current relevant Irish Medical Council Registration. • Fellowship of the College of Anaesthetists is desirable.
Experience • Experience at Registrar level in an acute hospital setting (Amount and Type)
Job Specific • Current ACLS and ATLS certification desirable Competencies and Knowledge Personal • Proven ability to work as an effective team member. Competencies • Ability to communicate effectively. • Previous research and publication desirable. • All posts in Beaumont Hospital require a high level of flexibility to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient service. Therefore, the post holder will be required to demonstrate flexibility as and when required by their manager of hospital management. All applicants must be either registered with the Irish Medical Council or eligible for registration with the Irish Medical Council.
