Psychology Syllabus

I. Course This course is a survey course to introduce students to the broad world of Description: Psychology. Psychology can be connected to many areas of life which we will study. Those include: politics, business and industry, diplomacy, and medicine, just to name a few. Knowledge of psychology is beneficial in many areas. Psychology helps students see how the discipline applies in their current circumstances or in the fields of endeavor they plan to enter.

II. Course At the completion of this course, students will have further developed their abstract Objectives: thinking and will now be able to look at many different arenas of life with a new frame of mind. Students will be able to compare, analyze, and explain the complexities of psychology with a greater understanding of how the processes of the mind operates.

III. Classroom  Be on time to class. Expectations:  Pay attention during discussions and feel free to express your opinions.  Be respectful of the teacher, one another, and all school property.  The academic misconduct policy and attendance policy will be strictly enforced in this class.  Be prepared to respond to questions during class.  Complete and turn in all assignments within the given time frame.

Accommodations: Requests for accommodations for this course or any school event are welcomed from students and parents.

Concerning laptop utilization: 1. Student laptops should not be hard wired to the network or have print capabilities. 2. Use of discs, flash drives, jump drives, or other USB devices will not be allowed on Madison City computers. 3. Neither the teacher, nor the school is responsible for broken, stolen, or lost laptops. 4. Laptops and other electronic devices will be used at the individual discretion of the teacher.

IV. Grading Policy: Test grades will account for 70% of the 9-weeks grade, with the remaining 30% being determined by quiz/daily grades. The grading scale is as follows: A (90-100), B (80-89), C (70-79), D (65-69), and

Page 1 F (below 65). Grades will be a reflection of mastery of the standards. Make sure all absences are excused as class work can be made up and graded for excused absences only. The Final Exam counts for 1/5 of final grade.

V. Make-up Test I will work within the guidelines of the student handbook for makeup Policy: tests. Communication is KEY!
