This is a very popular event and you should book early to avoid disappointment, this event is open to everybody aged 14 and over. The cost is excellent value at £40.00. Transport, food, walking&mountain training is all included.

Never been before? All participants will be placed in a walking team of 5 or 6 for the weekend and your team will be expected to complete a route card on the Friday evening. After a good breakfast on the Saturday morning your team will undertake a walk over open moorland. This will take about 6 hours to complete. On Saturday evening we will be doing some additional training which will be put into practice on Sunday morning

Transport This is provided to and from Carlton in Cleveland. Collection and drop off points will be arranged near to where you live. Times and venues arranged before the event and details will be sent to you.

Accommodation Accommodation is provided at the Watson Scout Centre, Carlton in Cleveland. Please note that if you are invited to take part in the plus group activities you maybe asked to provide and sleep in tents. A payphone is in the centre telephone number 01642 712539.

Please ensure that you bring all the items listed in the kit list, plus the map outlined below, failure to do so may prevent you participating in the event.

Preparation You must have a basic understanding of route planning, route cards, map reading, compass work and be fit enough to complete a challengingwalk in exposed terrain. A refresher course of these basic skills should be given by your Explorer Leader prior to the event.
