33rd Annual RYLA Conference 2012 Participation Invitation

Attention Rotary Club Presidents and Club RYLA Chairpersons:

Rotary International - District 7640 has scheduled its 33rd annual RYLA Conference from June 24, 2012 through June 28, 2012. On behalf of your District RYLA Committee and District Governor Alan Stein, we request your continued support of this valuable youth educational program. Enclosed you will find a detailed package that will guide you and your Club through the selection process for the Conference. The Committee strongly urges that you place your Reservation immediately.

DISCOUNT ALERT! Operating costs for the RYLA program continue to rise. However, clubs sending on-time Reservations by March 15 and Applications by April 30 will pay only the same charges as last year – a discounted rate of $375.00 per student ($425 per conferee if mailed after March 15).

Staff hires and room assignments which are done early in May are based on the gender counts of the applicants. Applicants are also assigned at that time to groups based on gender and interests stated on their applications. Late applications usually cause those students to be omitted from the conference directory, placement in unbalanced groups, and add costs. We had 145 conferees in 2011. There is a large amount of work to be done by the RYLA staff and Rotarians to prepare a quality program so it is imperative that due dates be honored so we ask you to plan accordingly.

Complete and return the “RYLA Conference Reservation Form” – on the web site www.rotary-district7640.org – along with your club check for the total due. New This Year: The Reservation Form, the Application Form, and the Medical/Parental Release must all be filled in and printed on a computer. Handwritten forms will not be processed. (This is meant to eliminate a persistent problem of illegible forms.) To receive the discount the club’s form and check must be postmarked by March 15, 2012. Mail them to Larry Lyford, RYLA Registrar, 114 Bergen Avenue, Voorhees, NJ 08043. We have been able to hold the fee for another year to $375.00 per conferee Again this year those applications missing the April 30 postmark date must be accompanied by a late fee of up to $25.00 per application (see fee schedule on application instructions page.)
