Sherwood News

Next week, we will have an advisory/homeroom period on Wednesday, March 9, between 1st and 2nd periods. This advisory time will be to handout passes for the Rock ‘n Roll Academic Assembly that day.

Laura Dinerman will be presenting at the National Science Teachers Association National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee during Spring Break. She will be presenting on behalf of Howard Hughes Medical Institute on how to teach Climate Science.

Big Shout Out to Beth Shevitz for taking Alex Silverbook and 30 Sherwood students to the White House today to participate in a special workshop hosted by Michelle Obama honoring the Legacy of Ray Charles.

They learned from, and hung out with, Michelle Obama and several artists including Demi Lovato, Yolanda Adams, Andra Day, Leon Bridges, Jussie Smollett, Sam Moore, and many others. In an intimate setting in the White House, they got to speak to these artists, listen to them perform, and learn about the cultural significance of Ray Charles. A concert entitled "In Performance at the White House" will be televised on PBS this week featuring these artists paying tribute to Ray Charles. Sherwood's own Kyle Simms had the opportunity to speak at the white house about what he learned from the artists at the workshop.

Congratulations to the Mock Trial team for having an undefeated regular season. They are currently in playoffs.

There will be a French/Spanish exchange trip beginning March 10th (dismissal at 11:00 am) through March 22nd. Please allow students to catch up or work ahead so they do not fall behind.
