Veterinary Experience Relief Veterinarian/Private Acupuncture Referral Service Gainesville, FL Present Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist/Private Referral Business  Provide the unique skills of Chinese veterinary medicine (acupuncture, herbal medicine, and medical massage) for equine and small animal patients of area veterinarians on a referral basis. Veterinary acupuncture is used as a treatment strategy for numerous conditions including, but not limited to osteoarthritis, IVDD, seizures, IBD, anorexia, pancreatitis, asthma, bronchitis, endocrine disorders, renal failure, atopy, insect hypersensitivity, otitis, geriatric weakness, and neoplasia Relief Veterinarian  Provide relief veterinary services to area animal hospitals; services include general wellness exams and immunization, internal medicine, emergency medicine and triage, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, and client education

Trenton Animal Hospital Trenton, FL August 2007-July 2008 Mixed Animal Associate (Primarily Small Animal)  Provided primary healthcare to small companion animals (dogs, cats, rabbits and rodents) and large companion animals and livestock (horses, goats, and pigs)  Performed diagnostic exams and numerous diagnostic tests in-house including, but not limited to bloodwork, cytology, urinalysis, thoracic and abdominal ultrasound, radiology, and effusion collection and analysis in order to diagnose and treat a variety of disease processes  Provided emergency medical treatment during and after office hours for physical traumas, shock, snake bites, urethral blockage, severe anemia and malnutrition, viral diseases, and metabolic disarrangements among other emergencies  Performed numerous soft tissue and orthopedic surgical procedures including, but not limited to, orchiectomy, ovariohysterectomy, hernia (umbilical and inguinal) repair, mastectomy, cesarean section, cystotomy, abdominal exploratory, tumor removal, entropion and third eyelid repair, onychectomy, limb and tail amputation, dental extractions, wound debridement and repair, femoral head and neck osteotomy, and fracture reduction and setting  Performed routine services such as wellness exams and immunizations and educated clients on proper healthcare, dietary needs, dental care, and behavioral issues Allison G Hiers [email protected] (352) 246-4096

 Practiced traditional Chinese veterinary medicine (acupuncture, herbal medicine, and medical massage) as a treatment strategy for many internal medicine and musculoskeletal conditions  Participated in community service activities such as administering low-cost rabies vaccinations at the local animal shelter and offering house call services for pet euthanasia  Organized and carried out routine staff educational seminars
