Announcements
After the Meet & Greet time, Club President, Rita Thompson reminded everyone that TRS is now paying on the last working date of the month instead of the first working day. Rosanne Minyard stated that the club would collect canned goods for the Food Bank of North Texas this month and also in November. The parking permits for retirees was discussed. Some people are still having issues. Program Rita introduced Eunice Currie, Assistant Vice President Human Resources Management and Development. Eunice is also the chairperson for the Wellness Committee. The vision of the Wellness Committee is to encourage healthy goals, provide opportunities to participate in health related programs, reduce health costs and to integrate living well as a priority in the work place. For 2016, the goal is to transition from Provant Health Solutions to a new platform (www.livingwell.utsystem.edu ). Eunice stated there is much information on line such as questions to ask your health provider about problems including blood pressure, depression, diabetes, cholesterol, weight management and more. She announced the walking challenge Fall into Wellness that is coming up October 19 – November 22. The initial meeting will be on October 19 in the MAC second floor lounge. Participants will be challenged to walk 10,000 steps a day. T- shirts, pedometers and a light lunch will be provided. Walking paths around the campus will be marked. The College of Nursing will host an 11:30-1:30 lunch and presentation on Life’s Seven Simple Topics. Homecoming will include a 5K run on Saturday, November 14 th with a $20 filing fee per runner (groups of 4 will be charged $15 per runner). Eunice handed out several door prizes and T-shirts, bags, & towels were available for everyone. Harley Courtney announced that Dr. Christopher Ray from the Center for Healthy Living and Longevity would be the speaker in November. The meeting was adjourned
