A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Harriet Elizabeth Bibb Porter. With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Harriet Elizabeth Bibb Porter, and we pause in silent reverence for her soul. WHEREAS, Harriet Elizabeth Bibb Porter was born on September 2, 1920, a native of Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, and she traversed these earthly bounds on February 22, 2004; and WHEREAS, Harriet Elizabeth Bibb Porter was the loving daughter of the late Leon and Elizabeth Bibb; she was the devoted wife of Woodford R. Porter Sr.; she was the loving mother of three daughters, Sharon P. Robinson, Marie Porter Sales, and Harriet P. Billops, and a son, Woodford R. Porter Jr.; she was the loving mother-in-law of Larry Sales, Robin Porter, and Jerry Billops; she was the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren, the proud great-grandmother of 8 great-grandchildren, and the proud great-great-grandmother of a great-great-grandchild; and she also leaves behind two loving brothers, Leon Bibb Jr. and Edward Bibb; and WHEREAS, Harriet Elizabeth Bibb Porter was an esteemed member of the Jefferson County community; she was a retired educator for Jefferson County Public Schools, a member of Broadway Temple AME Zion Church, Girl Friends Inc., Omega Siempre, Bridge Club, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Harriet Elizabeth Bibb Porter has left a void that cannot be filled, and she is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Harriet Elizabeth Bibb Porter, and extends to her family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Harriet Elizabeth Bibb Porter. Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mr. Woodford R. Porter Sr., 1400 Willow Avenue, #1704, Louisville, Kentucky 40204.
