The Independence Day Celebration in Comfort is a star-spangled event with small town flavor that encourages everyone to celebrate how great it is to be an American. The event is popular with visitors and Hill Country area residents alike. It’s extra special this year with Lt. Col. Richard Cole, one of the surviving Doolittle Raiders, as grand marshal. With red, white, and blue bunting and flags draped from the town’s many turn-of-the-century buildings, the town of Comfort captures the spirit of patriotism so prevalent in rural America in times past. Following in the tradition of old-fashioned Independence Day festivities, Comfort celebrates with an all-American parade and a community barbecue dinner. Fun family activities and Independence Day shopping at Comfort Park and at merchants throughout the town continue throughout the day. Entry forms for the apple pie baking contest are available at the Comfort Chamber of Commerce. Tickets to the barbecue dinner are $10 per person and can be purchased at the door.
