AUSTRALIAN MEDICINE ENTRY PROCEDURES FOR 2015

Information for 2014 Year 12 Students

Many students are beginning to plan their applications for medicine courses around Australia. The information below is an attempt to summarise some of the entry procedures with a particular emphasis on likely interview times

VICTORIA MONASH UNIVERSITY Interviews - January 2015 (likely to be in the week commencing January 5)

UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE (99.9 and above only) * Interviews - December 16 – 19, 2014. *Students achieving an ATAR of 99.9 or 99.95 will be offered an interview for a Post Graduate Medicine position. Satisfactory performance in the interview will guarantee the candidate a place in the MD course after satisfactory completion of their Science or Biomedicine undergraduate degree. These candidates will also be exempted from sitting the GAMSAT.

NOTE: Applicants will have an opportunity to do the interview in their third year of study if they are not available at Change of Preference time. The advice of The University of Melbourne is that students will not be disadvantaged by a later interview (Year 3).

Applicants will be notified of interview date/time in November. It may be possible to request a change of interview date (to allow for personal circumstances) but there is no guarantee this can be accommodated. A second round of interviews (small numbers) will be offered in early January to students who were not offered an interview in the early round but achieved very high ATARs. There is no way at this stage, of predicting your chance of such an interview. BOND UNIVERSITY Interviews in February 2015 (for May intake)
