BIENVENIDOS: Welcome to Spanish II! Having being introduced to the basics of the language in Spanish I, it is time to step it up a notch. SPANISH 2 is here and I am excited to have you in my class. I have listed below information that you will need to be successful in my class. If you have any question about these items, please ask. In addition, don’t forget to give this class information sheet to your parents to review and signature.

Course Description by units:
Numbers from 100 to 1000. Verb SER y ESTAR- verb TENER, LA FAMILIA (The family) Possessive adjectives, Demonstrative adjectives Nationalities, Asking and answering questions Parts of the house, Present progressive Describing people and objects Description: comparatives- superlatives Feelings and emotions Verbs past tense Giving directions in the city - Locations in your community Prepositions Asking and answering questions
Injuries and illnesses Present progressive Future tense
Plans for the future, professions All the topics above are going to be taught by using the communicative skills: Writing, Speaking, Reading, Listening and (Vocabulary).
Supplies needed: *A binder with lined paper,Pens,Pencils,Erasers,Folder.
Classroom rules * Be seated as soon as you enter the classroom with all required materials and start. NO food, chewing gum or drinks allowed in the classroom. No bathroom permissions (I will take into account medical exceptions with appropriate documentation). Take care of the materials in the classroom. Follow the District and GCHS student handbook’s rules and regulations.
Procedures
NO cell-phones or electronic devices visible, unless authorized by Señor Ayala for a specific task or activity in the classroom. Upon entering the classroom, begin reviewing chapter vocabulary. Put your assignment in the homework tray. Raise your hand to ask / answer a question or do not leave your seat unless authorized by the teacher. Speaking in Spanish is a MUST. Once the bell has rung, remain in your seat until the class is dismissed. Consequences Inappropriate classroom behavior and/ or failure to comply with the classroom rules and procedures will result in one or more of the following: Verbal and / or written warning and reprimand. Isolation in the classroom or seat reassignment. Before/ after school or lunch detention. Parental consultation. Administrative referral. Attendance and tardy policy Enter quietly and place tardy slips in the “Slips Basket,” near my desk. Make up work policy You are responsible for completing all work missed during any absence from class. You have two days following an absence to make arrangements to make up class work. You can make up work before school, after school or you can make special arrangements with the teacher. Work missed due to a school- related absence is due on the day you return to school. Work cannot be made during class. Homework will be reviewed/ due on the assigned date and Homework will be due on the next day when students return from an absence. If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to take notes and ask the teacher for explanation. Grading Grades will be calculated as follows: Tests: 25% * Quizzes: 15% * Class Work: 20% * Class participation: 10% * Homework 10% * Projects: 20% Letter grades will be assigned using the district- wide grading scale: A 93 – 100 * B 85 – 92 * C 77 – 84 * D 70 – 76
