SIFC Rules – Skaters

1. Always show respect for your coach: Coaches are here to help you achieve your goals, they are professional and most of them have been in your shoes. They are aware of what needs to be done to achieve your goals and are only able to help you if you listen and pay attention to them and do what they ask. Asking questions of your coach is ALWAYS good as it helps you understand why you are doing what you do and helps your coach gauge your level of understanding.

2. Remember it’s about you! Your coaches can teach you and help you, your parents can pay for lessons and ice time, but the only person who can do it is YOU.

3. There’s no such thing as ‘Can’t’: Remember you have coaches to TEACH you to do new things. There is no such thing ‘can’t’, just ‘I can’t do it yet’!!! You need to keep a positive attitude and ask if you need help. As hard as it is try not to let your frustrations take over. Remember, enjoyment is the key.

4. DON’T BE LATE: Give yourself enough time, warm up properly, if you don’t, you could cause yourself INJURY and allow time for registration and any questions you may have.

5. Dress like a champion: Follow the clubs dress code, with hair tied back. No jewellery (stud earrings are acceptable), red club jacket and black leggings. Please do not bring mobile phones on to the ice.

6. Challenge yourself: A true champion is measured on how much they improve NOT how many people they beat. Aim to improve your skills for you and NOT to beat other people.

7. Drink Plenty: Bring water to your training and drink plenty. Bottles can be taken on to the ice and left on the stage area. Fizzy Drinks are NOT permitted and NO food or sweets to be taken on the ice.

8. Eat sensibly: Remember skating is a sport and your body is under taking a lot of exercise and strain. Watch what you eat, a guide to help you can be found on our website www.sifc.co.uk

9. NEVER talk about others or make any member feel unwelcome: Skating is a solo sport therefore the only person you should be concerned with is yourself. Worry only about your achievements and progress, remember everyone achieves things at different rates and that does not mean that they are better or worse than you. I have read and agree to comply with the SIFC rules

SIFC Rules – Parents

1. Don’t be late: Bring your child along to sessions with enough time to warm up properly before they are due to start their class, if they don’t warm up properly, they could cause themselves injury. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, the coaches may not allow your child to skate that session.

2. Be involved with the club: Try to take an interest in what they are doing. Remember all members of the committee are also parents who volunteer and give up their time for free to support their own child and yours.

3. Ask questions: If you’re not sure about something, just ask us.

4. Child Safety: Please ensure the coaches and/or committee members have your up to date emergency contact information.

5. Rink Side Viewing: All parents are asked to view from the upstairs seating area rather than at rink side.

6. Don’t compare: Remember each child achieves at different rates and everyone’s circumstances are different.

7. Concerns: If you have any areas that you feel need to be addressed please ask to speak to a coach in private, do not do this in front of other children and parents. Coaches can be available at the end of sessions and there is always somewhere discreet that can be used to talk.

8. Support your clubs coaches: A mutual respect and good communicative relationship is always best. Remember team work produces best achievements.

9. The club table: Your first port of call for information regarding your club.

10. Support your child: Be their biggest fan, encourage them and praise their achievements and above all ENJOY watching how they develop and what they achieve.

11. Although you may not agree with all of the clubs rules and policies please remember that they are in place for a reason and please respect them. I have read and agree to comply with the SIFC rules
