Laboratory 5. Kinetics of Reaction between Oxalic Acid and Potassium Permanganate Pat 1: The Rate Equation
Name: Your Name Here
Partner: Partner’s Name
Section Section 40, Monday 2 PM
Performed: xx Month, 2003 Submitted xx Month, 2003
Laboratory Instructor: Instructor’s name here Useful equations to include
KMnO4 + H2C2O4 products
x[ y rate = k[KMnO4] H2C2O4]
ln(rate1/rate2) = y ln([H2C2O4]1/[H2C2O4]2)
y = ( ln(rate1/rate2) / ln ([H2C2O4]1/[H2C2O4]2)
Remember to include units. Significant figures are dictated by the significant figures in the concentration and the absorbance.

Results and Discussion
This is the most important part of your report. It is worth 20 points! You should explain what you set out to do. What your results were and explain how consistent your results were from the theory and from each other. Talk about sources of error and how you might improve the lab. If you can find out what the value should be from theory then compare that to what you get. What was the order of this reaction?

Experiment 1 k = Experiment 2 k = Experiment 3 k = Average value of k Standard Deviation 95% Confidence level
Remember to show the proper number of significant figures and the proper units. Questions I have added this page give you a format of you questions on the report. I would do these first. Two will allow you to start filling in your data Tables. (Delete this comment in your final report). The rest of the report should finish up quickly from that point on.
Question #1
Question #2
Remember, Inside the cover report you will want to include your report and the notebook copy pages.
