Meeting Minutes IFMA Executive Committee Meeting Meeting of Tuesday, October 8, 2013 Location: UW Credit Union, University Avenue, Madison, WI 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

Item #1: Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 9:08 a.m. at UW Credit Union. The September Meeting minutes were approved after the correction of Karyn Biller name spelling and meeting date. Karyn and Leah motioned to approve.

Note: Cuna Mutual dropped off Golf tees and they are with JR Roethke

Item #2 Officer Reports

 Treasurer (Brett Wedekind)

Much thanks goes to Nathan for assisting with the financial recertification. Projected budget still needs to be sent. Bret, Kyle, Nathan will need to get together and finalize.

Overall account balance $56,260.00 Money Market $22,329.00 Scholarship $19,293.00 CD $6,900.66

There were many bills received at end of 2012/2013 fiscal year. We had four months of administrator bills, Tri-Chapter catering invoice. There was a total of $8,000.00 worth of expenses for end of fiscal year. Income and expenses don’t always end up in the same year.

Bret will send off a pdf copy of financial to the board for approval of minutes via electronic format.

New Laptop was purchased and all is working very well!

He is waiting for Capital Brewery to confirm date. Also note to the Executive Board, the December meeting will take place at Capital Brewery before the festivities.

President (Kyle Roux)

WWP – Good time, great programming but honestly some were not so great! The opening keynote was not so good. The panel of speakers was strange, dry style of presenting topic; essentially they were talking about contracting facility manager’s jobs out. No humor in the presentation at all.

The welcome reception was at the Franklin Institute, the venue was good!

All the Federal buildings in the city were closed due to the government shut down.

Keynote Barbara Corine – She was very interesting, humorous.

There were as always a multitude of social engagements. The evening Galla wasn’t so good, not many folks in attendance. Overall, WWP is well worth the money and we need to do a better job of talking this event up to the membership here in Madison.

The blow up COW was a hit, looks like the Minnesota Chapter has her. Grant Horn was trying to convenience John Keene President of IFMA to consider hosting WWP in Milwaukee.

Lunch Bunch (JR Roethke)

As of right now 13 RSVP. JR will continue monitoring attendance. No email blast was sent reminding members of upcoming event.

We are trying to line up speaker on Leadership in Facility Management. Peter is working with folks from the UW.

WWP took the place of the monthly tour.

CMS-WIMS Systems next month and also trying to coordinate a joint tour with the other two Wisconsin Chapters.

Professional Development Task Force (Leah Samson-Samuel & Dave Bartel)

Skills USA competition still underway. Tim Riffle step up and will represent the Facility Manager.

Next week Friday conference of advisory and student where Leah gives her speech. Leah will need to talk with Bret about CFM study session. Another Think and Drink will be scheduled for this fall.

The Milwaukee Chapter is gearing up for the next Tri-Chapter event. If you know of any speakers let them know. The venue is going to be Miller Park.

The lunch bunch has been good about collection business cards for the WWP but the board isn’t so timely in notifying winner. Our winner claimed he wasn’t given enough time to claim his prize. Kyle asked the board if they would honor his prize for next year. The board collectively agreed the prize will not transfer to next year.

The board did decide we will no longer collect business cards but allow members to enter on line and hold the drawing at the Christmas Party. Mike Schwartz said he would look at his files for the survey we had sent the year before. The hope is to get this published in November so we can hold the drawing in December.

The meeting was adjourned by at 10:02 am with a unanimous vote from Leah and Mary Ann.
