To Employees: Keep this document. If you become unemployed, this information may be needed to determine your unemployment benefit entitlement.

You may file your new, additional, and reopened claim either by telephone or on the internet. To file your claim (by telephone or online) you must have the following employer information:

Failure to have the employer and wage information when you file may delay payments of benefits.

To file by telephone, call the Michigan Unemployment Agency (UIA) Inquiry Line at 1-866-500-0017 according to the schedule below.

If the last two digits of your Social Security number are:

 00 through 15 -- call on Monday 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., ET  16 through 33 -- call on Monday 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., ET  34 through 48 -- call on Tuesday 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., ET  49 through 66 -- call on Tuesday 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., ET  67 through 81 -- call on Wednesday 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., ET  82 through 99 -- call on Wednesday 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., ET

If you missed your assigned reporting day, claims are accepted on Thursday or Friday from 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., ET.

To file your claim for unemployment benefits online, go the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) Web site at: www.michigan.gov/uia. Select the “Filing Unemployment Claims Online” link.

The Internet Filed Claim system is available Monday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. regardless of the last two digits of your Social Security number.

If you have a problem or question about your claim, call the UIA at 1-866-500-0017 (TTY customers use 1-866-366-0004). UIA staff is available to assist you from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., ET, Monday through Friday.
