STEP 1: GMS REGISTRATION

IMPORTANT DATES GMS delegation registration dates: Open on Thursday, April 13, 2017. Close on Thursday, May, 11, 2017.

To complete registration, each Delegation must correctly register all allotted delegation members using the delegation members key below. Please be sure to review the “Sports Registration Guide” at the end of the page before registering athletes.

Before you register…

DELEGATION INFORMATION REMINDERS: 1. Event Fee: $75.00 dollars per registered Delegation member (does not including Delegation Escorts) 2. Delegations are required to bring one (1) coach for every four (4) athletes.

Eligible athletes and volunteers must be in registered in GMS with valid medicals and Class A clearance. Athletes and Volunteers listed as inactive, or with medicals/backgrounds expiring before the end of Summer Games are not eligible and will be immediately scratched from the delegation. Last day to get athlete medicals cleared and volunteer background clearance cleared is the Add/Drop Deadline Thursday, May 18.

NOTE:

 It is expected that you fill all allotments that you have accepted. Please limit scratches by communicating availability of athletes and coaches sooner rather than later.  We expect each Region to register alternates for all sports, especially individual sports. After the Registration Deadline on May 11, we will allot any available space before the final housing confirmations via the alternate process. If you have not registered alternates, we will allot to those Regions that have.

 Any allotments that are returned between now and the add/drop deadline of May 18 will also be allotted via the alternate process.

 Alternates should replace “scratched” athletes and coaches of the same gender and sport and can be easily moved into the rooming list.

 You may request additional coaches for your delegation if there is a substantial need. All requests for additional coaches will be processed through the new Exceptions Request Form. https://www.sosc.org/intranet/document.doc?id=4862

 Requests for day of Delegation escort public volunteer shifts need to be emailed to Nina Hadar [email protected] and cc Lisa Carpenter [email protected] by Mon, May 8th.

REMEMBER: All Delegation Escorts must be a minimum of 18 years of age, Class A cleared, and approved by the Volunteer Team. These individuals will NOT be provided housing and will NOT have access to the “Field of Play”, hotels, and/or dance. These individuals also do not count towards the 4:1 Athlete:Coach ratio required for Games participation.

SPORTS REGISTRATION GUIDE Review the 2017 Summer Games Event List and Sports Rules before starting registration.

a. Athletics: athletes can be entered in a maximum of three events plus one relay event. . To ensure quality competition, each athletics event needs a minimum of 3 people registered. Events with fewer than three registered athletes may run with another division or may be eliminated from the schedule.

. Please refer to 2017 Summer Games event list for specific instructions about entry eligibility for race walking, running and lower ability/ WCH events.

. Softball Throw – The maximum throwing distance accepted for event entry is 30 meters. Athletes who are able to throw farther than 30 meters are not eligible and should be registered in another event. b. Basketball: Competition - the following team levels are eligible for the 2017 Summer Games . Male/Mixed Team: Low C, C- and D levels. Teams that attended the 2016 Summer Games are not eligible to participate.

. All basketball teams must have and use a unique team name and complete a Team Rating Form. Teams must train and compete together throughout the season. Please review the team level definitions.

. Minimum roster size for basketball teams is eight athletes, max is ten athletes.

. Teams must play all athletes in each game, including classification games. c. Bocce

. All teams must train and compete together throughout the season. Teams must have and use a unique team name. Please review the team level definitions.

. Make sure your Area and Region are using the SOSC Bocce rules. These are the rules that will be enforced at Summer Games, with no exceptions. d. Golf . Competition format: Shot Gun start.

. Golf Level 2 Teams: Athlete & Unified Partner must train and compete together throughout the season. Teams will be automatically disqualified and scratched from the Summer Games competition if the registered athlete and partner do not show up together. No last minute substitutions will be permitted.

. Level 2 - maximum entry average is 75 or lower

. Level 4 - maximum entry average is 70 or lower

. Athletes or partners will not be allowed to use golf carts during competition unless a doctor's note is submitted by the registration due date detailing the medical need for the golf carts. Please note for Level 2 teams that if an athlete or partner is granted use of a golf cart, the remaining team member will need to walk the course. e. Artistic Gymnastics Male and female athletes may compete in a minimum of two events or in the All Around (all events offered within the same level).

Level A: Compulsory routines for gymnasts who have ambulatory problems, etc., but are too advanced for the Motor Activities Training Program. Level B: Compulsory routines for gymnasts who are unable to perform level 1 routines

Level 1: Beginner compulsory routines Level 2: Intermediate compulsory routines Level 3: Advanced routines using compulsory skills made into own routines with own connections Level 4: Optional/Voluntary routines

. Artistic Male & Female (Level A & B): Wide Beam, Floor Exercise, Vault, Single Bar, All Around . Artistic Male (Level 1-4): Vault, Horizontal Bar, Parallel Bars, Pommel Horse, Rings, Floor Exercise, All Around . Artistic Female (Level 1-4): Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, Floor Exercise, All Around

Reminder for Coaches: If athletes need assistance remembering routines, coaches may cue the athletes (non-verbally) from the side of the apparatus. Coaches may not yell or speak to athletes during competition. f. Rhythmic Gymnastics Male and female athletes may compete in a minimum of two events or in the All Around (all events offered within the same level).

Level A: Compulsory routines that are performed seated Level B: Compulsory routines that are performed standing. These routines are designed for lower ability athletes.

Level 1: Beginner Compulsory routines Level 2: Intermediate Compulsory routines Level 3: Advanced Compulsory routines Level 4: Optional routines; athletes perform original choreography to music of choice (following FIG guidelines for music)

. Rhythmic Male & Female (Level A Seated): Hoop, Rope, Ball, Ribbon, All Around . Rhythmic Male & Female (Level B Standing): Hoop, Rope, Ball, Ribbon, All Around . Rhythmic Female (Level 1): Hoop, Rope, Ball, Ribbon, All Around . Rhythmic Female (Level 2 & 4): Hoop, Clubs, Ball, Ribbon, All Around . Rhythmic Female (Level 3): Ball, Clubs, Ribbon, Rope, All Around
