Dear Tiger Parents/Guardians

September 18, 2017

Dear Tiger Parents/Guardians,

Parent-Teacher Conferences Just another reminder that Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held this Thursday and next week Tuesday. Report cards will be available in the main office to serve as a guide for which teachers you might want to conference with first. Teachers will be in their classrooms to conference with parents about their student’s educational progress. No appointment is necessary. In order to avoid wait times, it may be best to strategize your plan of attack.

The vast majority of teachers will be available to meet during conferences, but due to athletics, field trips and other activities taking place, a few teachers will only be available on one evening. We also have a few teachers that split their time between CHS and CJHS. They attend one night of conferences at each school. Below is a list of teachers that we know will be out of the building during conferences each night. We’ll send a final list on Thursday evening so that you can plan to attend when the most number of teachers will be available.

 Mrs. Crenshaw- World Languages, absent Thursday, September 21  Ms. DelaCruz- English Language Arts, absent Thursday, September 21  Mr. Janzow- Science, absent Thursday, September 21  Mr. Harret- Band, absent Thursday, September 21  Mrs. Heider- Social Studies, absent both nights  Mr. Jones- English Language Arts, absent Tuesday, September 26  Mrs. Kuper- English Language Arts, absent Thursday, September 21  Mr. LaMar- Band, absent Tuesday, September 26  Mrs. McClard- Counselor, absent Tuesday, September 26  Mr. Sanders- Math, absent Thursday, September 21  Mr. Smith- World Languages, absent Thursday, September 21  Mrs. Snider- Speech Pathologist, absent Thursday, September 21

Financial Aid Presentation All seniors are encouraged to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form is the federal government’s form for requesting free grant money, reduced interest student loans, and other forms of financial aid. Some scholarships also use this form as a screening tool. Linda Buerck, Assistant Director and System Administrator of Financial Aid at SEMO, will be presenting both nights of Parent-Teacher Conferences at 6:00 pm. She will discuss the FAFSA and the financial aid process in general as well as answering any questions that parents and students may have. Please take advantage of this opportunity as the FAFSA for students starting post-secondary education next year will become available October 1st. If you have a senior this year, or want to get information for your soon-to-be-senior, please join us in the library for one of these presentation opportunities.

Events in St. Louis We have a couple of activities taking place in St. Louis this coming weekend including Football at University City, Cross Country at Jefferson Barracks, and Marching Band at Fox Marching Competition. With the civil unrest taking place in St. Louis over the weekend, we will be monitoring progress throughout the week to determine if alternate arrangements need to be made in order to ensure the safety of students and sponsors.

Tiger Shoutout We had a big weekend. Congratulations to the following teams and individuals:  Boys Varsity Soccer for taking 1st place in the Hillsboro Invitational Soccer Tournament by beating St. Louis University High in the championship game on Saturday.  Austin Parker and Jada Ayers crowned Fall Homecoming King and Queen on Saturday.  Jared Neikirk finishing first in the Cape Central Cross Country Invitational on Saturday against a field that included strong competition.
