PEAKS Creating a Leadership Legacy

Spring Semester, 2004 Enrollment: PSU Student Employees, APPS Council Members, ACT Peer Leaders. Involvement:  Overnight Retreat. January 31st (Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon)  Eight (8) Facilitated Workshops. Thursdays, 5pm – 6:00pm.  Project Involvement.

Goals of PEAKS  Provide experiences that prepare students to become more effective leaders in co-curricular involvement and employment, as well as in their post–graduate professional work and personal life.  Create a bridge between the diverse work areas within the Department of Student Programs (PSU, ACT, APPS).  Develop a resource pool of potential student leaders for service within our Department.

Program Description PEAKS is designed to create a learning environment that supports a group- oriented and group-directed approach to the leadership development of program participants. The curriculum of the program evolves from a group- selected project and progresses through a series of facilitated workshops that focus on the achievement of various leadership skills.

Participated in a group-directed program that emphasized the achievement of knowledge and skills pertinent to becoming an effective leader. This experience allowed to me develop an understanding of organizational relationships – and how to facilitate the interaction between group members, project services, publicity and the campus public.
