“Aging and the Health Care System”

This was a presentation previously made to the DHHS Legislative Oversight Committee as well as to various interest groups around the State.

IV. Standing items:

 NACo Report – Carol Holden reported on new definitions under the Clean Water Act which would impact counties – We need the “magic language” to weigh in on behalf of NH relating to limiting the authority of the federal government.  Nursing Homes – Lori Shibinette raised the concern about the new regulations on assisted living facilities which would prohibit assisted living facilities from being attached to or adjacent to institutions – this would impact all 3 county assisted living buildings in NH – “on the same campus.”  Corrections – Jason Johnson reported on the upcoming 96th graduation – Strafford County hosted the current Academy. Supt. Johnson also reported the superintendents voted 3 in favor, 7 opposed on the inclusion of a waiver of minimum eligibility standards in the rules.

1 V. Comm. Maglaras raised the issue of funding for a memorial in Bath for Ray Burton and whether NHAC would be willing to contribute as an association. The Executive Committee voted to authorize Betsy Miller, the E.D. to review the budget and report back on the possibility of available funds for this. The discussion was relating to a contribution of “up to $2,500.”

VI. Meeting adjourned. Next meeting Friday, June 6th at 10:00 a.m.
