Session Description This limited seating, special registration session will feature a roundtable discussion in the Phil Donahue show style. The audience will be invited to ask questions and provide comments. The roundtable speakers will explore the most challenging diversity issues facing universities and colleges and the implications for employers. They will discuss the diversity strategies currently underway to address these issues. Roosevelt Thomas, Jr., Founder of the American Institute for Managing Diversity and CEO of Roosevelt Thomas Consulting and Training, often referred to as the “Father of the Field of Diversity”, author of 7 books including “Beyond Race and Gender” and “Building on the Promise of Diversity”, one of the most frequently referenced diversity experts in the world.

The moderator and panelists will explore such questions as:

 What is the meaning of the phrase “post-racial America”?  Does the election of an African American President signal the beginning of a new civil rights era?  What impact does the election of an African American President have on diversity and diversity management in a global society?  What major population shifts and global demographics may contribute to the need for a new diversity and civil rights dialogue? What is or what will be the new dialogue?  Does the election of an African American President signal the beginning or end of the diversity dialogue in corporate America, academe, etc…?  What are the unfinished diversity management and civil rights issues?  What is your response to those who say that the election of an African American President obviates the need for dialogue about diversity and diversity management in the USA?

Session Description In this session we will examine the new global economic realities and discuss the role diversity management could play in helping organizations survive and/or thrive in this environment. The issues that will be explored during this panel discussion include:

 What is the current state of the global economy?  What are the new economic and demographic realities that will most affect leaders and businesses in the next 2 to 5 years?  What are the best opportunities and most challenging problems for organizations in the new economic environment?  How do diversity champions remain relevant in the new environment?  What is or will be the critical diversity management work for this new economic environment? 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. 25th Anniversary Celebratory Reception Celebratory Event with Great Food, Music, Fun, Networking and Remembrances. The Reception will feature our 25th Anniversary Honorees and keynote address.
