The New Deal Acts and Administrations Project
Created by Ms. Swegler
With the stock market crash of 1929, the world was thrown into an era known as the Great Depression. It was most widespread and deepest depression of the 20th century. The United States unemployment level went up to 25%. In an attempt to solve the problem, the United States Congress, led by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, enacted several acts of legislation, collectively called the New Deal.
For this project, you will be assigned to a group to research one of the New Deal acts. Together you will create a presentation in Power Point, covering your New Deal Act. Each group member will create and present at least two slides that they researched and created on the subject.
1. Social Security Act 2. Works Progress Administration 3. National Recovery Administration 4. Federal Deposit Insurance Act 5. Civilian Conservation Corps 6. Securities and Exchange Commission
The presentation must include: A. what had been happening during the Great Depression that required the creation of this program [Background] B. what the program entails [Definition of the program] C. what the program did during the 1930’s-1940’s [Results of the program] D. how this program could help the state of Texas out today during the current recession [Application in today’s world] I have attached a rubric on how you will be graded. Power Point Expectations:
Each person in the group is responsible for a minimum of two slides each (make sure you put your name on your slides). You need to make sure that your group covers section A, B, C, and D. You MUST have a Works Cited slide. You may use slide transitions, but absolutely NO animations other than appearing pictures. You may use sound clips if appropriate to the slide (this can include music from the 1930’s). There needs to be a picture on EVERY slide.
