At times, you will need to locate an article listed in the references of a book or paper. There is an easy way to find it, using the article linker. Let’s say you are trying to locate the following article from the Critical Care Nurse: Luparell, S. (2011). Academic Education. Incivility in Nursing: The Connection Between Academia and Clinical Settings. Critical Care Nurse, 31(2), 92-95. doi:10.4037/ccn2011171  From the Library Webpage, use the Library Quick Links menu and select the Locate a Journal link.

 Enter the title of the journal (Critical Care Nurse) and click “Go!”

 Scroll down the page. Find the correct journal and click Look up Article (this link is to the right of the journal title.)

1 Jan Loechell Turner, Reference Librarian/Health Care 303-458-4262 [email protected] 9-23-11 2

 Enter the requested information: volume (31), issue (2), page number of the first page of the article (92), and date (2011). If you have that information, you don’t need to fill in author, title, etc. The DOI alone will also work. Then click the “Look Up” button.

 Click the Article link on the left side of the page. This should connect you to a page with the PDF full-text article file.

Note: If there is no Article link (there will be a “Sorry, we don’t have it” message,) click the Interlibrary Loan Login and submit a request. Usually we can obtain the PDF file of the article for you within an average of 3 days. This is a free service.
