Monroe Mimbs, age 78, of Monticello, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

Monroe Mimbs was born in Wrightsville, Georgia to the late George Leeston Mimbs and Maezelle Davis McCoy. He lived in Butts County for a number of years before moving to Jasper County in 1984. Before retirement, he installed and finished sheetrock. He was a member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church. Monroe’s two sisters and eight brothers preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Glenn Mimbs of Monticello; children, Danny Brandon Smith of Old Fort, North Carolina, Rodney Monroe Mimbs of Covington, and Robin Lynn Morrell of Monticello; grandchildren, Gwen Revis, Melissa Smith, Zebulon Mimbs, Aimee Ford, Chelsie Morrell, and Kristen Morrell; great grandchildren, Stephen Ford, Malachi Adams, Makaela Adams, and Zoey June Revis; and sisters and brother, Virginia Woodard and Marvin Edward Mimbs, both of High Falls, and Alice Faye Smith of Dublin.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, December 8, 2011, at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Roper will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, December 8, 2011, prior to the service, at Jordan Funeral Home.
