Year 12 Cultural Experience Trip Barcelona

Tudor Grange Academy Dingle Lane Solihull West Midlands B91 3PD 26th January 2015

Dear Parent/Guardian

Year 12 Cultural Experience Trip – Barcelona

I am delighted to announce that we are planning to take a group of Year 12 students to Barcelona on a ‘cultural experience’ trip from Sunday 5th July to Thursday 9th July 2015. This is the second time the Barcelona tour has taken place and the 2013 trip proved to be extremely popular and an enjoyable experience for all.

Barcelona is an excellent destination for students to embark on a cultural experience trip. Students will be able to walk around the vibrant streets of Barcelona and be inspired with every corner turned. The sheer size and incomparable design of the Sagrada Familia and the impressive Nou Camp stadium are just two of the sights students will experience on this trip.

Although not finalised, our proposed itinerary is outlined below:

Sunday 5th July Fly from Birmingham to Barcelona (arriving at lunchtime) and be transferred to the accommodation in central Barcelona (Sun and Moon hostel or similar). Rest of the day to be spent exploring the city. Traditional Tapas evening meal.

Monday 6th – Wednesday 8th July Days spent in Barcelona, exploring the sights on an open top bus tour. Students will visit the Sagrada Famillia and the Nou Camp stadium. There will also be time for students to shop, explore Las Ramblas, spend time on the beach and visit some of Gaudi’s architecture. Students may wish to visit a local waterpark or spend more time visiting the cultural sites of the city. Evening meals will be either traditional Tapas, Paella or there may be an opportunity to visit The Hard Rock Café.

Thursday 9th July Day spent in city. Fly from Barcelona to Birmingham (arrive back afternoon/evening).

The total cost for the trip will be £560 and this price includes flights, transfers to and from Barcelona airport, bed and breakfast accommodation, evening meals at local restaurants, insurance, the Nou Camp Stadium tour (and entry into the museum), entry into the Sagrada Famillia and the open top bus tour. Students will require a small amount of spending money for lunches, additional excursions and shopping. It is expected that students will meet at Birmingham airport and be collected from there on our return from Barcelona.

To apply for a place for your child a non-refundable deposit of £150 is required to be paid via Parent Pay or cheque (payable Tudor Grange Amenities Fund) as well as returning the consent form in a clearly named envelope entitled ‘Barcelona Trip 2015’ to Mr Bargh in WS1. We do reserve the right to withhold a place or withdraw any child from the trip at our discretion. The deadline for applications is Friday 6th February (places will be awarded on a first come, first served basis).

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely
