SENIOR SECRETARY (Payclass 6)
DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE FACULTY OF SCIENCE
We invite applications for the above post, for appointment as soon as possible. The successful applicant will report to the department’s Administrative Officer and will assist her and the Head of Department (HOD) with daily tasks.
Requirements include:
EITHER a Grade 12 (matric) qualification with at least 2 years’ relevant experience OR a Grade 10 qualification with at least 10 years’ relevant experience General Secretarial skills A friendly nature, with good communication and organisational skills Computer Literacy (knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Web and email usage) Accurate typing and numerical skills Minute taking skills The ability to manage variable workloads and to meet deadlines Self-motivation and ability to work on own initiative The ability to work within a team
Responsibilities include:
Assistance to the HOD with various tasks Managing HOD’s diary Screening telephone calls Providing general secretarial services to the department Marks processing Minute taking (for all meetings) Handling general queries from staff, students and the general public Organising meetings, venue bookings and functions Monthly tutor payments
Experience at an educational institution will be an advantage, as will knowledge of the UCT PeopleSoft system.
The annual remuneration package for 2012, including benefits, is between R132 537 and R155 963.
