Lesson Objectives: To name toys To say, read and, write the question and answer pattern: Does (he/she) like (cars)? No (he/she) (does/doesn’t). To use singular and plural nouns To name toys To ask questions using want To use Yes, I do. No, I don’t. To tell what you like.
Classroom English: Find. Say. Color. Draw. Read. Show me. Listen. Check. Point. Write. What is it? It is a (yo-yo). What are they? They are (trains). Do you want a (train)? Yes, I do. No, I don’t.
Language Patterns:
What is it? It is a (train). What are they? They are (crayons). Does he/she like (cars)? Yes, he/she does. No, he/she doesn’t. What’s this? It’s a (doll). Do you want a (kite)? Do you like (trains)? Yes, I do. No, I don’t. Do you want a train?
Materials: Crayons, drawing paper, scissors, slips of paper with toy names written on them, box, ball, doll, puzzle, crayons, toy boat, pencils, index cards with words: doll, dolls, trains kite, kites, car, cars, ball, balls, puzzle, puzzles, crayon, crayons, boat, boats, paper clips.
Realia: doll, yo-yo, toy train, kite, cat, ball, puzzle, crayon, toy boat, toy car

Lesson Plan for Spin! A, Unit 8
Into Activities
Warm-up/Accessing prior knowledge (5 minutes) Welcome the class. Show students the soccer ball and the kite. Act out using each item. Have the students repeat each word. Then, follow the rest of the directions for Warming Up on page 71.
Through Activities
Page 71 Student Book/Teacher’s Guide (5 minutes) Have the students open their books to pages 71 and 72 and do Using Page 71 and Using Page 72. You will need different colored crayons for this section, as well as a cassette recorder.
Page 72 Teacher’s Guide (20 minutes) Do the Having Fun! Playing Charades. Write the following activities on slips of paper ahead of time: run, jump, play soccer, swim, climb a tree, ride a bike, fly a kite. Follow the directions on page 72 for this activity.
Page 72 Student Book (20 minutes) Skip the Warming Up on page 72 and have students turn to page 72. You will need the picture cards or the toys for this activity. Hold up the item and review the new vocabulary with them. Read the students the directions for the writing activity. Follow the remainder of Using Page 72 in the Teacher’s Guide. Students at a higher level of language proficiency can add additional items on their pages.
Page 73 Student Book (20 minutes) Have students open their student books to page 73. Go to Teacher’s Edition, page 73, and follow the Instructions for Using Page 73. Then, do Having Fun! Make Puzzles. You will need drawing paper for this activity. If time permits, also do Act Out Playing, where students act out which toy they have by showing how to play with it.
Page 74 Student Book/Teacher’s Guide (10 minutes) Have students open their student books to page 74. Go to Teacher’s Edition, page 74, and skip the Warming Up activity. Go directly to Using Page 74. You will need a cassette recorder for this activity. Follow the Instructions for Using Page 74.

Nutrition Break/Snack Time – (20 Minutes) ______
Page 75 Student Book (5 minutes) Help student turn the pages in their books to page 75. Do the Warming Up activity, modeling the appropriate response. Use the picture cards for this activity.
Page 75 Teacher’s Guide: (5 minutes) Do the Using Page 75 activities in the Teacher’s Guide page 75. You will need the cassette recorder here. Ask students to tell what kind of toy they want and draw a picture of it in the box. Students at a higher level of language proficiency can also tell why they want this toy.
Page 76 Teacher’s Guide (15 minutes) Do the Using Page 76 activities on page 76 in the Teacher’s Guide. Then, using the index cards with the singular and plural toy words written on them ahead of time, do Having Fun! Singular and Plural Toy Words on page 76.
Page 77 Student Book (15 minutes) Have students look at page 77 and tell you what they see. Then, act out the chant on page 77 of the Student Book, following the directions in Using Page 77. You will need a cassette recorder for this activity.
Page 78 Student Book (15 minutes) Have students look at page 78 and explain the game. Model responses for students. Follow the rest of the directions for Using Page 78.
Pages 79 and 80 Teacher’s Guide (25 minutes) Follow the Warming Up review of vocabulary on page 79 of the Teacher’s Guide. Then, Do Using Page 79 and Using Page 80, which are reviews of Units 7 and 8.
