2009 National Science Olympiad Logo Contest

Purpose of contest: To design logos for the 25th anniversary of the National Science Olympiad that will be held at Augusta State University, Augusta GA, in May 2009.

Eligibility: Any K-12 student (including those associated with independent or home schools) in Georgia.

Requirements: 1. Logo must deal with the 2009 theme of “THE SILVER AGE OF SCIENCE .” The logo must contain both the phrases “25th Anniversary and Science Olympiad.”

2. Submitted logo(s) must be between 4” x 6” and 8.5” x 11” in size and must be submitted in color.

3. Logo(s) must be submitted in the following formats: a. As hard copy on one 8.5 ” x 11” sheet of white paper. b. As an electronic form in jpg format. Electronic submission should be sent on CD or mailed to [email protected]. The electronic image must not be reduced. Entry form must accompany both forms of submission. Improper formats will not be evaluated.

4. Up to 3 students may collaborate on one design. All students must be students at the same school.

5. One student or team may submit 2 different designs. One student may be a member of two different teams; however a single student may not be associated with more than 2 designs.

6. Logo may include the science Olympiad logo (logo may be downloaded from www.soinc.org, “Use of Logos.”)

7. The entry form must be included and attached following the logo design. Submissions in which the form precedes the logo design will not be considered. All received entries will be assigned a number to insure impartiality by the judging committee.

8. Receipt of all completed entries will be acknowledged within 48 hours of receipt of the complete entry.

9. By submitting the design, students agree that the logo may be modified in any fashion to fit the overall needs for and uses of the logo. Deadline: 15 November, 2006. Late submissions will not be considered.

Determination of winners: 1. Two designs will be chosen by the Georgia National Olympiad Committee.

2. Winners will be announced by 30 January, 2007.

Use of Logo: Logos will be used for the 2009 National activities and publications. All logos become the exclusive property of the 2009 Olympiad Committee, and will not be returned. The logos may not be used by others in any form.

Awards: 1. The prize for each winning design will be $300. This award will be divided equally among all group members if necessary.

2. All winners will be recognized in the 2009 program booklet and during the opening ceremonies on May 15, 2009.
