INFORMATION & JOB CONTEXT Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is the only UK charity solely dedicated to research into blood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. We rely entirely on voluntary support to raise funds, as we receive no government funding.

Over 50 years we have built up unique expertise in blood cancer research. This means that we invest in only the best UK research to bring us closer to a cure for all blood cancers.

We are determined to beat blood cancers, however long it takes.

To fund our life-saving research, our mainstreams of income are:

3 Corporate and Trusts We have a reputation for developing and launching inaugural charity of the year initiatives with companies such as Wickes and Pontins as well as maintaining and extending partnerships with companies like Bluefin and the Hook Norton Brewery. We also are involved with many corporate golf days and dinners and events. We now need to focus on accelerating the growth in new business applications and the partnerships that we win, in order to meet our ambitious targets. Community Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research began with one voluntary fundraising group or “Branch” in 1960 and one of our biggest income stream still comes from our 150 Branches and Fundraising Groups, who raise over £1.5 million each year. Community fundraising is absolutely key to our future success, but society is changing and with that our fundraising. Our communities of fundraisers today include individuals who have been affected by a blood cancer and those people who have set up Forget-Me-Not Funds in memory of a loved one, who want to support our work in specific ways, in their local area. Funding research in 50 hospitals and universities into leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma, we can show the difference we are making in communities UK-wide, and how we are helping patients touched by blood cancers. The challenge of the Community Fundraising Team is to raise the profile of what we do locally, and what we do for every type of blood cancer, with the aim of growing income, ensuring our existing supporters become friends for life and engaging new supporters. Sports Events We have worked hard to be the charity of choice for many sports events and have been creative in our strategy to grow business, utilising the support of our president, Sir Ian Botham and patrons such as Alastair Campbell to achieve our aims. As a result, we are the official charity for most triathlons of note in the UK including Blenheim and Windsor. We have a large running team led by Liz McColgan and sponsored by TV Times, we also partner the Run to the Beat half-marathon in London. To spread our risk and to maintain more control, we also organise our own sports events including our flagship London Bikeathon event with 6,500 riders, the largest of a series of Bikeathons throughout the UK. Special Events As our fundraising activities have grown we have found we need a dedicated team to maximise our income from Special Events. This team looks after our major events and donors, including our programme of events with our president, Sir Ian Botham and the Calendar Girls. We have key events in our calendar such as Christmas Carols at the Royal Albert Hall, Alternative Hair Shows and fundraising schemes, our Annual Conference, Open Days, and Disneyland trip for children with leukaemia. The team also work with the Director of Fundraising and CEO on special events with major donors. These streams of income are supplemented by legacy and investment income, as well as creative marketing campaigns such as our 'forget me not' funds.

We are proud to be amongst the most efficient charities in the country and operate with a tightly knit team of c70 staff from our HQ in Holborn, central London
