MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF CAREER DEVELOPMENT (MDCD) CAREER PATHWAYS (CP)

OVERVIEW According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are more than 12,000 career options to consider. One option to assist students to maintain a career focus is through Career Pathways (CP). CP are six broad groupings of careers that have similar characteristics with many common interests, strengths, and competencies. The groupings include the entire spectrum of career options, providing opportunities for all students and all ability levels regardless of educational requirements. PURPOSE The Career Pathway program provides a framework of support and connections for students to help them make seamless transitions from high school to postsecondary education or training in preparation for successful careers in the changing work world.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY Membership in the Cleo R. Andres chapter of the National Honor Society is an honor bestowed upon deserving students by the faculty council, and shall be based7 on the criteria of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

To be eligible for membership:

a. Students who have met the minimum cumulative grade point of 3.75 by the end of 10th grade will be sent a letter inviting them to apply to the NHS. The 3.75 GPA requirement must be maintained throughout high school to be considered a member in “good-standing”. b. To be eligible for membership, the candidate must have been in attendance for a minimum period of one semester at Northview High School. c. Upon meeting the GPA standard requirements, candidates shall then be considered based on their service, leadership, and character. d. Once accepted into the NHS, members are required to complete individual service hours each semester, attend mandatory monthly meetings and participate in group service projects.
