DIRECTOR OF FAITH FORMATION

Job Title: Director of Faith Formation

Reports to: Pastor

FLSA: Exempt 40 Hours per week

Supervises: Coordinators of Faith Formation for Children English & Spanish, Youth Minister, and Faith Formation Registrar.

Position Purpose:

 Provides senior leadership in the implementation and administration of Faith Formation processes/programs for adults.  Provides direction and supervision for Coordinators of Faith Formation for Children English & Spanish, and Youth Minister.

Qualifications and Experience:

REQUIRED  Active member of a Catholic parish faith community  Knowledge of and compatibility with the mission of the Catholic Church  Strong organizational and communication skills  Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members  Ability to work with all ages  Ability to supervise volunteers  Computer literacy  Bachelors’ degree in Religious Studies, Theology or Pastoral Ministry and five years or more of Pastoral Ministry experience or a Master Catechist certificate with five or more years of Pastoral Ministry experience.

DESIRED  Masters’ degree in Religious Studies, Theology or Pastoral Ministry Essential Job Functions:  Operate office equipment including: computer [Word, Excel, database], printer, copier, phone system, fax machine  Knowledge of Social Media communication platforms  Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.  Sitting and performing computer work for periods of two hours or more.

DUTIES:

1. Pastoral Staff a. works in conjunction with Senior Staff under the supervision of the Pastor to integrate faith formation into the overall mission of the parish. b. as a member of the senior pastoral staff: collaborates with pastor, parochial vicars, deacons and pastoral staff c. serves as a member of the liturgy committee

2. Faith Formation Team a. works collaboratively with faith formation team and provides supervision b. encourages on-going leadership formation, professional updating and Diocesan certification of faith formation team c. consults and assists in formation & training of catechists d. consults and develops parent formation programs e. assists with issues of discipline, parents, facility use, when needed f. annual ministry & performance review of faith formation team

3. Administration, Support Staff and Volunteers a. creates and monitors the annual budget b. oversees registration, maintenance of files and record keeping pertinent to faith formation c. oversees space allocation and general workings of the Parish Center pertinent to faith formation d. responsible for catechetical content and materials e. ensures that faith formation programs are well communicated to the parish f. provides regular supervision and annual performance review for faith formation support staff person(s) including but not limited to scheduling, time cards, job coaching, and professional development. g. recruit, interview, match volunteers with skills and interest to adult faith formation tasks, train and supervise h. ensures that the faith formation team implements the provisions of the Charter set by the U.S.C.C.B. in their respective ministries. Oversees the implementation of the Dallas charter and the Diocese of Orange Youth Protection Program.

4. Ministry a. directs the RCIA process/program and coordinates liturgical rites for Christian Initiation. b. directs the annual Adult Confirmation program for the parish c. directs and ensures that adult formation series/seminars are offered d. oversees Welcome Home ministry to returning Catholics e. oversees parish Bible Study ministry f. oversees Passages grief support ministry.

5. Personal development a. on-going formation, professional updating and Diocesan certification

6. Performs other duties as assigned by the Pastor.
