INTERIOR SIGNAGE

1.4 SUBMITTALS

A. Product Samples: One full size sign sample illustrating the design, construction, colors, typestyles, mounting method and other details as specified.

10440-1 B. Drawings: Identifying all materials, sizes, construction details, graphics layouts, typestyle specifications and mounting methods.

C. Signage Schedule: Complete with location of each sign and the required copy/text.

D. Sign Program Maintenance Plan: 1. Manufacturer shall provide details of software and system of color coated paper sign inserts allowing client to update and maintain signage graphics in- house. 2. Manufacturer shall provide details of an Online Reordering & Maintenance Application whereby the client can submit sign reorders online and store/view relevant project information such as signtype drawings, message schedules and product instructions.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer: Work required under this section from manufacturer regularly engaged in work of this type and scope for a minimum of 5 years.

B. Product Warranty: Provide manufacturer’s warranty against defects in materials and workmanship for a minimum of 1 year.

C. Samples: One full size sign sample illustrating the design, construction, colors, typestyles, mounting method and other details as specified. Provide sample in small size sign.

1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE & HANDLING

A. Package signs to prevent damage during shipment, handling, storage and installation. Products are to remain in their original packaging (unless otherwise specified) until removal is necessary for installation.

B. If installation site is not ready for signage upon delivery, store signs in a dry, air- conditioned environment.

C. Handle signage in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS

A. Signage shall be manufactured by APCO Graphics, Inc. (a.k.a. APCO Signs or APCO USA), at 388 Grant Street SE, Atlanta, GA 30312.

2.2 ACCEPTABLE PRODUCT

A. FullView Modular Sign & Display System.

10440-2 B. Requests for substitutions will be considered only within the provisions of Section 01600 and must conform to the quality, capabilities, performance and design intent as the specified APCO product.

2.3 PRODUCT STANDARDS

A. General: 1. Sign system shall feature solutions for all required sign types, including but not limited to wall mounted personnel signs, work station personnel signs, primary room identification, directories, directionals, overhead signs, projection wall signs, free standing signs, restroom signs, regulatory and information signs, stair signs and changeable slide conference room signs. All signs within the system must feature the same family of components and convey a uniform look throughout.

B. Features: 1. Sign Frames: Sign frame assemblies shall be comprised of aluminum extrusions with a core material rigid enough to support the sign’s display/insert material. 2. Sign Depth: No wall mounted signs should feature a depth greater than 11/16 of an inch. Wall mounted signs 17 inches wide or less shall feature a maximum depth of 7/16 of an inch. 3. Updatability: Signs must allow for easy updating of message inserts for all signtypes and must offer an option of front-loading/re-loading of insert panels. 4. Tamper Resistance: System must offer an option for a concealed locking method to increase level of tamper resistance. 5. Mounting: Signs must be able to accommodate installation via fully concealed mechanical fasteners. 6. Optional Laminates and Laminate Backers: Any decorative laminate backers must be adhered to a thermoset composite substrate which contains a minimum of 50% recycled content material. Laminates adhered to acrylic or PVC will not be acceptable. C. Graphics and Typography: As selected from manufacturer’s standards. Reference sign drawings.

D. Colors and Finishes: As selected from manufacturer’s standards. Reference sign drawings.

E. ADA Compliance: Sign system shall comply with all current and applicable ADA regulations, including requirements regarding which sign types require Braille/tactile features, character heights, character stroke width, inter-character spacing, color contrast, installation locations and mounting heights within the facility.

F. Materials and Construction: 1. Sign assemblies shall be comprised of an extruded aluminum frame and an inner core rigid enough to properly support the display/insert material. Overall depth of all frames 17 inches wide or less shall not exceed 7/16 of an inch. Frames must allow for front loading/re-loading of insert panels and must offer an option for a concealed locking method to increase tamper resistance. 2. Aluminum frame extrusions shall contain a minimum of 50% post

10440-3 consumer recycled content. 3. Braille/Tactile Components shall be PETG-backed photopolymer with raised characters and Braille of minimum 1/32 of an inch depth. PETG-backed Braille/tactile plaques shall contain a minimum of 40% recycled content. 4. Graphic Inserts/Panels are as per sign drawings and should be easily updatable without the need to replace the entire sign assembly. 5. Fasteners: Signs shall be able to accommodate fully concealed mechanical fasteners. 6. Substrate for Optional Decorative Laminate Backers: Any decorative laminate backers such as Formica® or Wilsonart® shall be pressure adhered to SiennaCORE, a natural fiber thermoset composit backer with a minimum 50% recycled content and comprised of materials from FSC Certified sources. Non-thermoset composite substrates such as acrylic or PVC will not be accepted. 2.4 SIGN SYSTEM DETAILS – SELECT A OR B BELOW

2.7 FABRICATION

A. Fabricate units as per specifications and details indicated on reviewed drawings.

B. All fabrication must take place in the USA.

C. Include product instructions sheets for installation and removal/replacement of insert components.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.

B. If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2 PREPARATION

A. Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.

B. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.

3.3 INSTALLATION

A. Install products in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, in locations and with mounting methods as specified in sign and location drawings.

B. Square, plumb and level all installed products.

C. Install all signage in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) and any applicable local regulations and/or codes.

D. Upon completion of the work, sign installer shall remove any unused products, materials, packaging and debris from the installation site.

10440-14 3.4 CLEANING

A. Clean all exposed surface not more than 48 hours prior to Date of Substantial Completion in accordance with manufacturer’s written cleaning instructions.

3.5 PROTECTION

A. Protect installed products until completion of project.

B. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.

3.6 SIGN SCHEDULES

A. Refer to Signage Schedule and Drawings for sizes, locations, sign types, layouts, typography specifications, sign text/copy and sign graphics.
