Bostock Singers’ Christmas Cheer Press release for Northwich Guardian

Family and friends of Bostock Singers and the Winsford Education Partnership Junior Choir had a musical treat on Friday 9th December. They had gathered in St John’s Church, Hartford for this traditional evening of carols, festive songs and Christmas readings.

It began with a powerful rendition of “Joy to the World”, included a sweetly poignant “O Holy Night” and ended with a warm and moving version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. This last song was a truly cross-generational performance as the Bostock Singers were joined by the Winsford Education Partnership Junior Choir.

The youngsters’ choir were accompanied by Sally Ross and the humour of their songs brought smiles to all, helping to create a delightful evening of entertainment.

Nicola Howbrigg, who is Musical Director of both choirs, successfully encouraged the audience to join the singing of some carols and St John’s was filled with music and Christmas cheer.

It was an extra special occasion as three members of one family contributed to the concert. Peter Drew, Bostock Singers’ longstanding piano accompanist, was ably assisted by his daughter, Cathy Lewis, and both must have been understandably proud to hear Cathy’s son, Jack, 17, perform a jaunty “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” on the cornet.

Bostock Singers will be busy in the New Year entertaining local pensioner groups at Lach Dennis and Winnington. Details of 2017 events are available on: www.bostock- singers.co.uk Secretary: Shirley Barnwell: [email protected]
