Progressive Christianity Explored Introduction (GEN 8/5/2015) This class is being taught in August and September 2015 at Learning Quest A prayer Attributed to Archbishop Donald Caird, retired Primate of the Church of Ireland - Lord, keep me in the company of those who seek the truth, and guard me from those who believe they have found it. The class will meet on Fridays in the first floor auditorium of the Main Public Library at 915 Monroe Street from 9:30 to 11:00 AM starting on August 14th and going through September 11th. The format for the classes will be 15 minute segments of a video followed by short discussions. Hopefully this will stir conflicting and unpredictable emotions in all of us. It seems to me that conversations about these feelings are what the learning experience is all about. With a bit of luck we will all end up with more question than answers… Progressive Christianity is defined by Google as a form of Christianity which is characterized by a willingness to question tradition, acceptance of human diversity, a strong emphasis on social justice and care for the poor and the oppressed and environmental stewardship of the Earth.
