1.0 Overview 1.1 Use Case ID BUC2819 1.2 Use Case Name Manage Dietary notes. 1.3 Use Case Description This process will allow the user to maintain food items consumed by species or animal in the form of free text. Veterinarians will use this function to record dietary changes and supplements prescribed by them. Notes will be associated to an animal or Taxon. Information will be recorded by date and will need a status flag and/or end date to indicate whether the diet or diet supplement is in use or has been stopped. 1.4 Use Case Priority High 1.5 Frequency of Use Daily

2.0 Actors 2.1 Primary Actors 1. Veterinarian is responsible for prescribing diet changes or dietary supplements and maintaining diet notes. 2. Veterinarian reviews dietary notes and approves them. 2.2 Secondary Actors 1. Animal Feeder is responsible to administer diet changes and supplements and send feed back to the veterinarian. 2. Recorder is responsible to record the dietary notes. 2.3 Stakeholders Curator

3.0 Conditions 3.1 Triggers 1. Problem in animal’s health that requires change in diet or needs diet supplement. 2. Change in food items and food supplements to develop new diets for the animal or species.

4.0 Flow of Events 4.1 Basic Flow 1. Veterinarian researches animal diet to correct an existing medical problem or improve overall health of the animal. 2. Veterinarian reviews existing diet notes for the animal or species. 3. Veterinarian prescribes the changes in the diet or changes in the food supplements. 4. Recorder records changes in the diet using dietary notes function, a new record is created for each change and the old record is modified to reflect that this diet is discontinued and a new diet sheet is in place. 5. 1. Dietary notes Note type, date, free form text field to type in large text or copy and paste from MS office application, diet status, approval status, and discontinue or end date. The text field should allow text search, spell check and ability to use rich text formats.
