Living Obituary Spring 2009 Lauren Christ: This Life is Worth Living Written by: Bryan Murphy
“Genuinely happy” are the words her eighteen-year-old sister and best friend,
Dana, used to describe Lauren Christ. A twenty-two-year-old Michigan resident and
Purdue student came from a family of four. Lauren was always driven to succeed by her family. They have been there for her through thick and thin. Her parents, George and Deborah, have taught raised her to be tough. They bring her inspiration to be great and they give her strength to follow her dreams. She has big plans for her life. After graduation she is determined to follow in her parent’s footsteps in becoming an entrepreneur.
During a year of study in New York City at the Fashion Institute of Technology, she took full advantage of her time by interning for Teen VOGUE and exploring the city.
It was there she convinced herself her dreams would come true. She has always been recognized for having a great eye for fashion, and she has her heart set on opening a set of boutiques in Chicago. Lauren was once voted in her sorority “best closet to borrow from” as well as “best dressed” in high school; it seems like a fool proof plan.
Her passion to succeed is great and to her, failure is not an option.
Some of her greatest achievements came through hard work in athletics. Her upbeat attitude made her the perfect choice for captain of her high school water polo team. She led more through being a positive example and maintaining close relationships than anything else. “She lead our team with heart, she cared about everyone, and at times it seemed like she cared about them almost more than me”, her Living Obituary Spring 2009 sister Dana joked. Lauren’s close relationship with her sister has been one of the most rewarding experiences in her life. Lauren is honored by the level of trust they have in each other and being her sister’s role model.
Lauren’s two favorite places in the world are home in Michigan, and what she considered her home away from home, Purdue University. She has made some of her closest friends here, including Meridith Lawn. Lawn remembers some of their best times together, “We loved going to breakfast club, tailgating at football games, lying in the grass by the engineering buildings for hours when the weather was nice, and those nights we stayed up forever talking with friends. She has made a point of it to not waste a single minute of what she has said is going to be the four best years of her life, and she has done just that.” Lauren believes in living life to the fullest with no regrets. She knows she will make mistakes, but she knows she will learn from them too. Living Obituary Spring 2009
