JOB DESCRIPTION

CASHIER This is a temporary part-time position. The aquatics center is open Memorial Day weekend thru the Labor Day weekend including the Fourth of July holiday. Staff members are required to work April 28 thru September 27, and must be available to work 25 hours per week. This position includes greeting our guests and working in admissions or concessions as assigned by supervisors, preparing bank deposits, locker rentals, cash accountability, stocking materials & supplies, and maintenance duties, as assigned. Prerequisites includes: - Cashier applicants must be 16 years of age or older, 15 year olds maybe considered. - Customer service skills - Knowledge in money collection Preferred Training: - CPR and First Aid certifications Please include copies of certifications with application

LIFEGUARD I This is a temporary part-time position. The aquatics center is open Memorial Day weekend thru the Labor Day weekend including the Fourth of July holiday. Staff members are required to work April 28 thru September 27, plus attend mandatory in-service trainings beginning April 28 and must be available to work 40 hours per week starting May 25, 2009. This position is responsible to perform lifeguard duties, assist with learn to swim classes, maintenance duties, and to have skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The lifeguard team must meet the following prerequisites: - Applicants must be 16 years of age or older, certified 15 year olds maybe considered, and must pass the required pre-skills test (Sunday, April 26, 2009, at 12:00 p.m. at Central Arizona College Pool). Pre-skills test includes but is not limited to: tread water for 60 seconds with an object, 500 yard continuous swim demonstrating freestyle, breaststroke and sidestroke, and retrieve a 10 lb. object from at least 7 ft. of water. - Must posses or plan to obtain a current lifeguard training certificate, which should include CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and AED training. - Working knowledge of pool sanitary regulations. Important Note: Individuals enrolled in Lifeguard Training may submit an application for employment before completing the certification process. Preferences will be given to certified applicants or those enrolled in a lifeguard training class. Please include copies of certifications with application.

LIFEGUARD II This is a temporary part-time position. The aquatics center is open Memorial Day weekend thru the Labor Day weekend including the Fourth of July holiday. Staff members are required to work April 28 thru September 27, plus attend mandatory in-service trainings beginning April 28 and must be available to work 40 hours per week starting May 25, 2009. This position is responsible to perform lifeguard duties, maintenance duties and to have skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. This position is also responsible for conducting learn to swim classes of all ages and proficiency levels, and to perform pool maintenance duties as needed. There are four 2- week sessions that will be held June and July. You must be able to complete any 2-week session you are assigned to teach. Prerequisites include: - Applicants must be 17 years of age or older, certified and qualified 16 year olds will be considered. - Must pass a skills test that would consist of swimming a 500 yard of continuous swim demonstrating freestyle, breaststroke, and sidestroke, and tread water for 60 seconds with a 10 lb. object (Sunday, April 26, 2009, at 12:00 p.m. at Central Arizona College Pool). - Must posses or plan to obtain a current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certificate. - Must posses or plan to obtain a current Lifeguard training certificate, which should include CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and AED training. - Working knowledge of pool sanitary regulations. - Considerable knowledge of the principles and methods in teaching swimming. - At least 1 year experience as a Lifeguard and Swim Lesson Instructor. SWIM LESSON INSTRUCTOR This is a temporary part-time position. This position is scheduled to begin June 1st thru July 24th. Responsibilities of this position include organizing and instructing swim lesson in all sessions. The aquatic center offers 4 -2week sessions. Lessons are conducted on weekdays, with morning and evening classes. Staff is required to be available to work during these times, plus attend mandatory in-service trainings beginning in May. Must apply mature judgment and work harmoniously and firmly with other employees and the general public - Must posses or plan to obtain a current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certificate or an Arizona Teaching Certificate. - Must posses or plan to obtain a current CPR and First Aid certifications. - Knowledge and experience in the instruction of children of all ages. - Knowledge and experience in the supervision of others. - Considerable knowledge of the principles and methods in teaching swimming. Please include copies of certifications with application. SWIM TEAM COACH This is a temporary part-time position. This position is scheduled to begin June 1st thru July 25th. Responsibilities of this position include, supervising, organizing and coordinating all swim team practices, events, meets and confirm the swim meet schedule and applicable rules with participating agencies in the Valley Swim Conference, develop daily lesson plans for swim meet practices, enforce pool rules and regulations during hours of operation, insure the safety of public swimmers, and comply with personnel rules and regulations while on duty. Prerequisites include: - Applicants must be 16 years of age or older, certified 15 year olds maybe considered. - Must posses or plan to obtain a current Lifeguard Training certificate and or Water Safety Instructor certificate and/or Swim Coach certificate. - Must posses or plan to obtain a current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid and AED training certificate. - Working knowledge of pool sanitary regulations. HEAD LIFEGUARD This is a temporary part-time position. The aquatics center is open Memorial Day weekend thru the Labor Day weekend including the Fourth of July holiday. Staff members are required to work April 28 thru September 27, plus attend mandatory in-service trainings beginning April 28 and must be available to work 40 hours per week starting May 25, 2009. Responsibilities of this position include assist with staff training, assisting parks maintenance with operation and maintaining the pool filtration and chlorinating system, supervise and teach swim lessons, verifying cash and preparing bank deposits, perform lifeguard duties, maintenance duties and to demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Must apply mature judgment and work harmoniously and firmly with other employees and the general public. In addition, this position will oversee the Jr. Lifeguard Program. Prerequisites include: - Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, certified and qualified 17 year olds will be considered - A minimum of 1year experience as a Lifeguard and/or Swim Lesson Instructor is preferred. This experience must be comprehensive enough to ensure the ability to successfully perform the duties of the position. - Working knowledge of pool sanitary regulations. - Applicants must pass the required pre-skills test (Sunday, April 26, 2009, at 12:00 p.m. at Central Arizona College Pool). Pre- skills test includes but is not limited to: tread water for 60 seconds with an object, 500 yard continuous swim demonstrating freestyle, breaststroke and sidestroke, and retrieve a 10 lb. object from at least 7 ft. of water. - Must posses or plan to obtain a lifeguard training certificate, which should include CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and AED training. - Must posses or plan to obtain a current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certificate (or plan to obtain one within 1 month of hiring). - Knowledge and experience in supervision of others. - High school diploma or GED preferred. ASSISTANT POOL MANAGER This is a temporary part-time position. The aquatics center is open Memorial Day weekend thru the Labor Day weekend including the Fourth of July holiday. Staff members are required to work April 28 thru September 27, plus attend mandatory in-service trainings beginning April 28 and must be available to work 40 hours per week starting May 25, 2009. Responsibilities of this position include supervising and training the aquatic staff, assisting parks maintenance with operation and maintaining the pool filtration and chlorinating system, supervise, organize, coordinate and teach swim lessons, verifying daily cash counts, preparing bank deposits, perform lifeguard duties, maintenance duties, and to demonstrate skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Must apply mature judgment and work harmoniously and firmly with other employees and the general public. Prerequisites include: - A minimum of 2 seasons of experience as a Lifeguard and Swim Lesson Instructor is preferred. - Must posses a standard high school diploma or GED. - Must posses or plan to obtain a current lifeguard training certificate, which should include CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and AED training. - Must posses or plan to obtain a current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certificate. - Applicants must pass the required pre-skills test (Sunday, April 26, 2009, at 12:00 p.m. at Central Arizona College Pool). Pre- skills test includes but is not limited to: tread water for 60 seconds with an object, 500 yard continuous swim demonstrating freestyle, breaststroke and sidestroke, and retrieve a 10 lb. object from at least 7 ft. of water. - Considerable knowledge of resuscitation and other first aid measures; considerable knowledge of life saving; and working knowledge of the laws and ordinances governing the conduct of persons at a swimming pool. - Knowledge and experience in supervision of others. POOL MANAGER This is a temporary part-time position. The aquatics center is open Memorial Day weekend thru the Labor Day weekend including the Fourth of July holiday. Staff members are required to work April 28 thru September 27, plus attend mandatory in-service trainings beginning April 28 and must be available to work 40 hours per week starting May 25, 2009. Responsibilities of this position include supervising and training the aquatic staff, assisting parks maintenance with operation and maintaining the pool filtration and chlorinating system, inventory of concessions and admissions which will include the day to day operational tasks such as wristband counts & occupancy loads, developing schedules, timesheets, and verifying cash and preparing bank deposits as well as inputting data into the computer daily. This position is also responsible to perform lifeguard duties, maintenance duties and demonstrate skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies, and preparing daily, weekly, and monthly reports for Aquatics Coordinator as assigned. Must apply mature judgment and work harmoniously and firmly with other employees and the general public. Prerequisites include: - A minimum of 2 seasons of experience as a Lifeguard and Swim Lesson Instructor is preferred. - Must posses a standard high school diploma or GED. - Must posses or plan to obtain a Lifeguard training certificate, which should include CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and AED Training. - Must posses or plan to obtain a current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certificate. - Applicants must pass the required pre-skills test (Sunday, April 26, 2009, at 12:00 p.m. at Central Arizona College Pool).
