1. Call to Order. The President called the meeting to order at 1912.

2. Approval of Agenda. The agenda was approved on a motion by Glen Hodgins, seconded by Bill Wilson.

3. Approval of the Minutes of the Board.

a) The minutes of the 26 February 2013 meeting was approved on a motion by by Shaila Singh, seconded by Jolanta Szulc.

b) The minutes of the 26 March 2013 meeting was approved on a motion by by Shaila Singh, seconded by Bill Wilson.

4. Commanding Officer Reports.

a) Commanding Officer, RCSCC Falkland – LCdr Jamie Clute i. Falkland had its first social on 19th April with a movie night and will be having a mock casino with prizes on 10th May. ii. We placed 2nd in the drill and band competition that was held in Trenton. iii. The tender for the building will be posted on MERX in June. iv. The annual review will be held on 2nd June on the lawn at City Hall the alternative is Cartier Drill hall. v. The Mothers Day concert will be held at the war museum and we will be partnering with the Stitsville band. vi. SCUBA classes resume in may and is ongoing with 8 cadets. vii. There were 29 billets assigned for summer camp not including the music billet, we are hoping to obtain more of the basic and advanced billets. viii. The Commanding Officers’ report was approved on a motion by Bill Wilson, seconded by Glen Hodgins,.

b) Commanding Officer, NLCC Vice Admiral Kingsmill –Lt. (NL) Bern Greene i. In the absence of the CO, Derrick Schroder presented the report. ii. Battle of Atlantic is scheduled on 12th May. iii. The annual review will be held on 9th June at Cartier Drill hall. iv. We have 59 cadets registered with 45 on strength. v. The Commanding Officers’ report was approved on a motion by Jolanta Szulc, seconded by Glen Hodgins,.

5. Portfolio Reports

a) Vice President NL Cadets. i. The Provincial Competition has been cancelled.. ii. 33 cadets participated in Tag Day. iii. Craig MacFee will be Inspector at the annual review. iv. We will be holding an Open House on 8th September.

vi. The Vice President NL report was approved on a motion by Jolanta Szulc, seconded by Bill Wilson.

b) Vice President Sea Cadets. i. After last month’s meeting the Barrhaven Legion visited. There was some discussion on whether more than one Legion is allowed to advertise that they sponsor sea cadets. The NLOB is in favour of the Barrhaven Legion sponsorship, as well as other legion sponsorship. The Barrhaven Legion stated that there was no objection on their part. ii. VPSC took a NL Cadet and a Sea Cadet to the National AGM, where they went around fundraising, the event was a success. iii. The VPSC report was approved on a motion by Jim Cummings, seconded by Rajveer Singh.

c) Treasurer. The treasurer was absent however provided a written statement..

6. President Discussion Items. a) April 13th TAG Day brought in $10,091.70. BZ! There are 19 sites confirmed for the May 11th Tag Day. The call out to the parents went well and contributed to the high turnout.

b) Support to Annual Reviews is ongoing. Admiral Bennet will be the Chief Reviewing Officer. The RCSCC Falkland 90th preparations are ongoing. A budget will be required, we will need to invite a few speakers and look at providing mementos. We need to decide if a BBQ will be put on this year. The President tasked the CO to look into cost and restrictions.

c) Report by Divisional Representative – Bill Wilson:

i. I attended the 95th Ontario AGM. As per DND directives, the Sea Cadets will be required to have a 14 month planning cycle. DND is concerned about getting Cadets into boats, therefore they are looking into SCOP equivalencies but paid officers will be required at such events.

ii. The NL workshop dealt with the Branch and Cadets relationships.

iii. The ON Division will be starting a lottery and will be providing I book to each NL and SC to be sold. The revenues will be divided 70% to the branch and 30% to the Division.

iv. The AGM took place on Sunday and Gordon King was elected President. The only change in the slate is Paul Laroque is now VPNL and Donavue Arnaould, President of Kemptville is a Member at Large.

v. There were discussions against the idea of Cadets selling raffle tickets as per item C iii above. The Ottawa Branch agreed that the vote at the AGM is not weighted therefore it was not fair that the lottery proposal did not make the AGM floor. Action Item: The Divisional Representative will advice the ON DIV that the Ottawa Branch will be opting out.

d) Chairs to provide AGM Reports to President by 31 May 2013

e) Annual General Meeting – 19 June 2013, Barhaven Legion near the OC Transpo and Via Rail Stations.

7. New Business: a) How much is the Legion Cheque? $1500 b) Jolanta Szulc would like to have the official title of Fundraising and Tag Day Organizer. c) The Howard requires clean up and volunteers are required to go to Merrickville.

8. Next Meeting: Tuesday, 28 May 2013, at Dows Lake.

9. The meeting adjourned at 2030.
